Casey Currie and King Shocks out front in TORC Pro Light class

Currie_Charlotte_3 The Traxxas, Torc series battle for Pro Light supremacy has been intense from the start. It’s clear that the competition will be spirited all season between several racers who have already distinguished themselves thus far. In the opening rounds at the Red Bud motocross track in Buchanan, Michigan King Shocks racer Samuel Hubinette earned back-to-back wins and the points lead right out of the box. At rounds 5 and 6 in Charlotte, North Carolina, it was King Shocks racer and defending Champion Casey Currie who would sweep the top spot on the podium in dominating fashion.

Casey had vowed to return the whoopin’ that Samuel put on the rest of the field in the first rounds and at Charlotte, he made good on his promise. Casey and Samuel’s victorious weekends were mighty impressive but there is another driver who has also earned a mention. Aside from a 14th place finish in round one, King Shocks racer Andrew Caddell has stood on the podium in every single round. Andrews’s consistency has placed him in a tie with Casey Currie for the points lead going into the midpoint of the season.

Casey agrees that the three King Shocks drivers will be battling it out until the end but he feels confident that his team has a handle on both the V8 power plant and the suspension set-up they need to work with the new General tires. “The last two rounds have definitely given us a boost in confidence but we know we have to stay consistent, no dnf’s!” says Casey, “with the V8 engines you don’t have to spend as much on the motors. Before, there was an advantage going to whoever spent more money. Now it’s more equal, it comes down to the better driver and the set-up. There are two short tracks and two long tracks left on the schedule. We definitely feel like we have an advantage on the shorter more technical tracks but regardless it’s going to be battle to the end. We are determined to get another championship, that’s our goal.”
