Sheldon Creed: The Future Of Off Road Racing Is Now

Sheldon Creed Motorsports

A mere fourteen years old, Sheldon Creed has experienced more Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) victories than birthdays.  The three-time Kart champion took home his 17th short course win last weekend at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, this time in the ultracompetitive Super Lite class.  It has hard to believe that Creed’s first time racing in the Super Lite spec class was in September at Speedworld, where he reached the podium in a field of 14 trucks just a week before his fourteenth birthday.
Having won season championships in three different LOORRS Trophy Kart classes, Sheldon is often referred to as “the future of off road racing”.  Last weekend in Las Vegas he demonstrated that the future is now, beating 16 worthy competitors to take his first Super Lite victory on Sunday.  The win was not handed to Sheldon though, and he came in fifth place on Saturday after starting on the pole in front of the packed stands.  A true champion does not withdraw in the face of adversity, and Sheldon demonstrated maturity beyond his years to return on Sunday and best the entire field.

Sheldon Creed topped the podium in only his fourth Super Lite race

How does someone become so fast as such a young age?  Sheldon’s parents gave him the opportunity to race BMX at the tender age of three, and by five years old the natural racer had won his first BMX state championship.  Fast forward to 2011 and Sheldon is racing a sprint car in addition to short course racing, providing valuable seat time that providing a clue about how Creed developed his phenomenal car control in the dirt.  Next season holds more opportunities as Sheldon wants to move up into the Pro Lite class at the regional level in addition to Super Lite and Modified Kart in the LOORRS national series.  Creed will also travel to Indiana during his summer vacation to race a sprint car built and prepped by Mark Deskovick of Sprint Mart.  This gives Sheldon seat time four nights a week in preparation for the famous Chili Bowl in Tulsa next winter.   Keep an eye on Sheldon as “the future of off road” adds more wins to his résumé.
