Round 3, Brown Valley CA
Saturday June 25th: The weekend started in the early hours with the drivers walking the new courses that Kurtis Harryman had laid out for them. Harryman knew all the drivers were disappointed that they could not run at Donnor this weekend. The amount of snowfall, the Tahoe area received this winter broke records and is still melting off. This is why Round 3 of the CalROCS extreme racing series had to be moved to Brown Valley.

Brothers Jim and Kevin Brown, trade off driving and spotting for each event, this allows them both to really understand how the rig will move through the obstacles. They were able to take 1st place with an impressive -11
Ashley Hall runs her Suzuki in the Stock Mod class. This class is the easiest to compete in, but does not mean the courses are easy. It still takes a well built rig and more driving skill then some of the other classes. Stock Mods are smaller rigs but will run some of the same courses as the Full Body rigs.
Aaron Whitehead has built his rig so well with a low center of gravity that he is able to take this very off camber obstacle with out flopping on his side.
Dan Patterson, gets on the gas hard to make it out of one of the large pits that was dug up for this event.
Lisa Trent conquers this freshly exposed rock face like she was driving to the store.
Spotter Joe Magliano watches as Rob Kaufman launch his Trent Fab rig onto it’s side, then uses his naturally born talent to flip it back up on all fours.
Rob Kaufman lights up a tire fire to get his tires sticky enough to get over this steep obstacle.
Spotter Kyle Casci coaches Wade Coffee on his approach to the gate, to avoid hitting the cone.
Mike Bou, runs in the Full Body class. This class is one of the most competitive; with highly skilled drivers.
Aaron Sykes, came down hard on the sharpest rock at Browns Valley, snapping his driveline in half.
Mike Bou, is a very calm and technical driver who is not afraid to lift a tire when maneuvering his rig through the courses.
Jimmy Haughy, gets close to the time limit on this course, so a little more throttle was required to get him over this obstacle.
Jimmy Haughy, picks his line and crawls right over to advance the next gate.
The Trent Fab’s rigs go head to head in the WFO Shoot Out.
Chris Brown takes the low side, when Jimmy Houghy takes the high line, during their side by side WFO Shoot Out race.
Round 4, Donner CA
Saturday morning July 30, 2011, all the CalROCS competitors are excited to finally take on the course at Donner Ski Ranch. Donner is always the favorite spot for competitors and spectators, so of course it is the perfect location for Round 4 of the CalROCS extreme rock crawling series. As the competitors walk the new courses that CalROCS has laid out, they share stories of past events, achievements, and carnage. They cannot wait to hit the rock so they can get new stories to share around the campfire, new achievements, and new broken parts to fix, just so they can do it all over again.

Dennis Stansfield killed it at Donner this weekend and put up better scores than all the rigs in the class above his.
Get out the grease, Mike Bou is going to need it to make it through this tight squeeze.
Shane McKeag watches the cone closely to ensure he will not hit it as he progresses through this gate.
Going off a drop in reverse to use the weight of the engine to hold the tires to the ground does not always work, as Jimmy Haughy found out here.
Dan Patterson took first place by 1 point.
Rob Kaufman has been wheeling less then a year but he still has taken 1st in every competition he has entered.
