283 General Tires Justin Davis Wins Dirt Sports Rookie of the Year AwardFort Mill, SC – March 6, 2012. The 2011 off-road season boasted some incredible racing and General Tire‘s Justin Davis certainly contributed to those moments. Davis’ stand-out performances in the SCORE series have garnered him the distinction of being named Dirt Sports Rookie of the Year for 2011. The 18-year-old Davis was also nominated for the Dirt Sports Driver of the Year award. The youngster joins General Tire‘s Carl Renezeder as a recipient of the annual Dirt Sports awards.

“Our hats are off to Justin Davis for his superb 2011 season and well-deserved Rookie of the Year award,” said Travis Roffler, director of marketing for General Tire. “We’re extremely proud that Justin had zero flats on his General Tire’s in 2011. We look forward to supporting Justin as his career grows and we will continue to provide quality products that will enable him to win many more races, championships and awards.”

“It’s really cool to win the Dirt Sports Rookie of the Year award,” said Davis. “I can’t thank General Tire enough for their support last year. We’re here to win and that’s what we are focused on going into 2012. With sponsors like General Tire supporting us, we should have a good chance at having another great year.”

After moving to Class 1 in 2011, the up-and-comer made a statement loud and clear, he’s here to win. The Chino Hills-native showed poise and tenacity as he drove his Green Army-sponsored, Kroyer-powered EMS-Chevy buggy to a win in the first SCORE race of the year at the Laughlin Desert Challenge. Davis followed that up with two more wins including a win at the prestigious Baja 1000 making him the youngest winner in the races history at just 18. Davis drove the entire grueling race solo, including the notorious San Felipe loop, and not only won the Class 1 title and season championship, but crossed the line in sixth-place overall. An amazing feat for such a young talent.
