McRae Cinco de Baja Low2 220x146 Poison Spyder Larry McRae Wins Modified Class at Cinco de BajaBANNING, CA    MAY 9, 2012  –  Larry McRae drove the Poison Spyder Modified Ultra4 #4581 to a class win at the Ultra4 Cinco de Baja race last weekend in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  With this Modified Class Western Series win and the 2012 Modified Class King of the Hammers win, the Poison Spyder Racing team is leading the Pro Series Modified Class and the Western Series Modified Class points race.  “The only thing that we had to do was put fuel in the car,” said driver Larry McRae.  “The crew prepped the car meticulously and have slowly worked the bugs out of the car making the 250 miles consecutively with no issues to speak of.” Read More→

Shaffer 2012 SF250 22843 220x146 Shaffer Motorsports Wins Class 4 SCORE San Felipe 250 OAKLAND, CA     MARCH 13, 2012   Shaffer-Motorsports car #401 won the San Felipe 250 in Class 4 last weekend in Baja, Mexico.  After a long week of prerunning and a 24 hour turn around to the US for a rebuilt transaxle, the team made the mad dash to the finish line with only 12 minutes separating them from second.  “It was quite a race.  From being down at the half way point, then making a great pass at RM194 for the lead, then watching Daniel put some time on them, we just focused on keeping the sprint up,” said Mike Shaffer, driver of record and owner of Shaffer’s Offroad. DIrt Sports DOY Image 1 220x152 Bryce Menzies Celebrated at Dirt Sports Magazine’s “Driver of the Year” HonorsMarch 8, 2012 (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) – Set against the uniquely sculptured and dramatic backdrop of Oakley’s world headquarters, the finest off-road motorsports performances of last season were toasted at the annual Dirt Sports magazine “Driver of the Year Honors” celebration hosted by Amsoil, KMC Wheel, Oakley, Red Bull and Ryan Communications Group (RCG).

In the most difficult and closely contested Driver of the Year voting since the awards were established in 2005 (for the 2004 season), Dirt Sports gave top 2011 honors to Bryce Menzies. Menzies, a 24-year old racer from Las Vegas, managed the nearly incomprehensible feat of claiming two very distinctive championships; the Traxxas TORC Pro 2 unlimited short course title and the SCORE desert series Trophy-Truck crown. KOH2012 Figspeed 220x146 Les Figueroa Finishes Second Consecutive King of the HammersHENDERSON, NV     FEBRUARY 16, 2012  – Les Figueroa, driving the Figspeed Lucas Oil Racing Ultra4 car, finished 36th at the 2012 Griffin King of the Hammers.  Qualifying a respectable 27th the team ran somewhere between 12th and 18th for a majority of the day.  “It was a hard day of racing, just glad to finish, we were going really strong, like a lot of people were, but we made it and we are happy that we finished!” said Figueroa with a smile at the finish line on Friday night well after dark.  “It was a long day, but a good day!” Read More→

JT Taylor KOH 2012 220x146 JT Taylor Starts 6th Consecutive King of the HammersCOLORADO SPRINGS, CO    FEBRUARY 15, 2012  –  JT Taylor set forth on his 6th King of the Hammers adventure last week in the same car that he has driven for 5 of those years.  After a high speed tumble during pre-running, the team thrashed to get the car back on all four in time for qualifying.  JT started Fridays race in 68th and finished his race 18.5 miles from the finish line with a blown transfer case.  “When we were 40 miles from the finish line I thought I would get to finish this race, but I got shot in the foot again,” said JT Taylor after recovering the rig. “But the time spent on the lakebed with friends, who I only get to see a couple times a year, makes it worth the trip nonetheless.” Read More→
