Richie Carter Win GH 7 12 14 800x600 220x165 Race Prep Racing Takes the Checkered Flag At Glen Helen Grand PrixGLEN HELEN RACEWAY, CA – July 12, 2014   In their first Western Regional Race of 2014 and their first regional race in the newly created Ultra4 Legends Class, Race Prep Racing outlasted the other Legends teams and took the checkered flag for the win on July 12, 2014.  Richie Carter, driver of the 4474 Legends Class car, credits perseverance and hard work for the team’s success.

The pit crew battled fueling issues all weekend still managing to put down good lap times during the preliminary heats when it counted.  Though the final wasn’t pretty – the car sputtered and popped during most of the race – this is endurance racing and the car, driver, and crew worked for 90 minutes keeping the car moving and the lap times consistent.  In the end, Race Prep Racing put down two more laps than its closest competitor and took the win in their class. Wayes Takes First ULTRA4 Win at MetalCloak Stampede

Wayes 220x146 Race Recap Video & Report MetalCloak StampedePRAIRIE CITY SVRA, CA – June 12th, 2014:  Thousands of fans weathered the triple digit heat last weekend at the MetalCloak Stampede to watch one of the most exciting ULTRA4 races to date. The main event saw two former and the current King of The Hammers each take a turn at leading throughout the 45 minute race. That is until the final lap, when Tom Wayes worked his way from a rear start to claim the checkered flag, and his first ULTRA4 win.

Wayes had the fastest qualifying lap on Friday morning, however after suffering mechanical issues, he was unable to race in Friday afternoon’s prelim races. The top 3 drivers from prelims moved directly to the main event on Saturday afternoon.  Nitto Tire driver Loren Healy won the fastest prelim heat which put him on the pole for the main event with Shannon Campbell starting beside him.

Campbell and Healy, both two-time Kings, wasted no time establishing their dominance when

the green flag dropped. Campbell took the early lead with Healy close on his heels and 2009 King and Nitto Tire driver, Jason Scherer chasing them down for 3rd. The 3 Kings held the top 3 spots for the first half of the race.  A full course yellow mid-race brought all the drivers back together and Campbell looked to take the lead again. Unfortunately Campbell bicycled in a tight turn and hit a k-rail while returning to the course, causing a mechanical failure. Healy then took the lead with Scherer close behind. Scherer overtook Healy until the last lap when Scherer succumbed to mechanical issues. All the while, Wayes was working his way up from the back of the pack. In the final lap, it was Healy and Wayes battling for the checkered flag with both drivers setting blisteringly fast lap times. In the final two laps, Wayes posted the two fastest lap times of the entire weekend propelling him into the lead to take his first ULTRA4 checkered flag. Read More→

Brad raced rounds 5 & 6 in the TORC Series while Roger raced the #232 Ultra 4 in front of a hometown crowd at RAM Off-Road Park where he won last year.
“It was all about the jumps!” said Roger Lovell after pre-running the 5-mile course at the Lovell’s favorite local track, “The tempo and timing is everything. I can push harder but then your over jumping everything and flat landing the truck. You can do that, but not for 3 hours!” That smart tempo paid off last year and Roger is always good at staying focused on his race.

Friese Images Jason Scherer Stampede 3 220x146 Jason Scherer Finishes With Brand New Car at Ultra4 StampedeDANVILLE, CA   JUNE 10, 2014    Jason Scherer’s brand new IFS car is going to be a strong contender in the upcoming Ultra4 series races, as proven by it’s excellent performance at this weekends MetalCloak Ultra4 Stampede race.  Started a short 3 months ago after the finish of the King of the Hammers, “The Gavel” hit dirt for the very first time on it’s way to Friday’s Tech Inspection where it passed with flying colors.  Scherer finished 12th in the main event, after racing up to the lead with just a half of lap to go.  “It was great to see Tom Wayes in the winners circle in the same car that won last years Stampede!” said Jason Scherer, the 2013 MetalCloak Stampede winner.  “We had our fair share of little issues that we had to work out on the new car this weekend. Today’s race was a bit bittersweet, knowing the car is awesome and with a little tuning is a top contender.  But, also knowing that just making a normal pass or probably following the lapper would have been good enough for the win in the car’s debut race.  A little prep, some tuning, and some small mods and we will be ready for Glen Helen on July 11th!” Read More→
