HUMMER’s
iconic design and unparalleled capabilities have come
a long way since the brand first transformed an austere
military vehicle into a true automotive phenomenon
in 2002. Since then, the division has unveiled a series
of trucks that express these core attributes, and add
premium style and comfort. This combination defines
HUMMER and inspires its loyal following.
HUMMER’s capabilities are tested by its owners
every day in the real world, and also off-road in desert
racing, in what’s perhaps the ultimate proving
ground.
Team
HUMMER consists of H1, H2 and H3 race trucks, all
driven by the legendary Rod Hall and his sons,
who also are accomplished off-road racers. The
Hall team competes in the Full Stock class, featuring
production-based
vehicles with stock frames, stock suspension
designs and production-based engines. In 12 years
of racing,
the team has garnered 10 class wins at the Baja
1000; 41 podium finishes in the Best in the Desert
series
races; and five BitD class championships.
For
the 2007 model year, HUMMER refines its offerings
with two limited-edition models for H3 and
H2, and a more powerful engine for H3. It also
continues
its
enhanced warranty of four years or 50,000 miles
on all HUMMER vehicles.
HUMMER H1
After
14 years and nearly 12,000 vehicles produced, the HUMMER
H1 ceases production at the end
of the 2006 model
year. H1’s extreme capability and durability helped
establish the heritage and extreme off-road credentials
consumers associate with the HUMMER brand and H2 and H3
today. Rather than continuing to invest in the exotic,
niche-market H1, HUMMER will dedicate its engineering,
manufacturing, marketing and dealer resources to bringing
more new or significantly revised models to market. H1
owners can continue to depend on HUMMER dealerships to
provide warranty repairs, parts and service.
H3:
Roughly the same length as a midsize family
sedan, H3 comfortably navigates city traffic and
delivers HUMMER’s trademark crawling and
climbing capability.
In addition to its impressive off-road capabilities
that match those of the H2, the H3 also provides
the refinement, comfort and convenience required
for enjoyable on-road driving, with daring looks
that make it immediately identifiable as a HUMMER.
The interior is inviting and modern, blending premium
cues with world-class craftsmanship.
For 2007, H3 receives a new, more powerful engine:
the Vortec 3.7L with dual overhead cams and variable
valve timing. This 3.7L inline five-cylinder offers
an excellent combination of power and efficiency,
delivering 242 horsepower (180 kW) at 5600 rpm* and
242 lb.-ft. of torque (328 Nm) at 4600 rpm.*
And less than a year after the H3’s debut,
HUMMER expands the line with a new model called
the H3X*, based on the H3 Street concept shown at
the
2005 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA)
show. The 2007 H3X injects new energy into the
HUMMER lineup, appealing to buyers with an interest
in a
customized appearance available directly from the
factory.

HUMMER H3 ADDS NEW ENGINE, H3X MODEL FOR
2007
The
midsize H3’s iconic HUMMER style
and unparalleled off-road capability have
earned it a prominent position in the growing
HUMMER legacy, and extend the brand’s
passionate following by making it accessible
to a broader range of owners.
For 2007, H3 receives a new engine: the
Vortec 3.7L I-5 with dual overhead cams and
variable valve timing. This inline five-cylinder
engine offers an excellent combination of
power and efficiency, delivering 242 horsepower
(180 kW) at 5600 rpm* and 242 lb.-ft. of
torque (328 Nm) at 4600 rpm.
And
less than a year after the H3’s
debut, HUMMER expands the line with a new
model called the H3X*, based on the H3 Street
concept shown at the 2005 Specialty Equipment
Market Association (SEMA) show.
The 2007 H3X injects new energy into the
HUMMER lineup, appealing to buyers with an
interest in a customized appearance available
directly from the factory.
The H3X begins with an H3 equipped with
leather seats and a six-disc changer with
Monsoon sound system, chrome tube steps,
chrome appearance package with bright roof
crossbows and chrome fuel door. The package
also includes a body-color grille and unique
spare tire cover, tires, wheels and center
cap, and a brush guard. The interior features
headrests embroidered with the H3 logo.
Consumers can further personalize their H3X
with any of the H3’s eight exterior
colors and three leather interiors. It also
is available in two exclusive colors: Sonoma
Red Metallic and Desert Orange Metallic.
The H3X arrives in dealerships the third
quarter of 2006, and is available in the
United States and Canada.
Other 2007 changes include standard StabiliTrak
on the manual and automatic transmissions;
a new chrome wheel for 33-inch tire; Midnight
Blue exterior finish replaces Superior Blue;
and the discontinuation of the Shadow Green
exterior and Ebony/Green cloth interior.
Unparalleled capability
The H3 packs trademark HUMMER capability
into a midsize package. Compared to the H2,
the H3 is 16.9 inches (429 mm) shorter in
length, 6 inches (152 mm) shorter in height
and 6.5 inches (165 mm) narrower. Roughly
the same length as a midsize family sedan,
H3 comfortably navigates city traffic and
fits nicely in parking garages.
Like all HUMMERS, the H3 delivers exceptional
rock crawling and climbing performance. The
H3 was engineered for off-road leadership
among midsize SUVs. The heart of this capability
is its electronically controlled four-wheel
drive system. The system features traction
control, underbody shielding, an optional
rear locking differential and StabiliTrak
stability control. H3 offers two tire packages,
a Goodyear 32-inch, all-terrain tire and
Bridgestone 33-inch off-road tire, both larger
than those found on any other midsize SUV.
Also available is a specific off-road tire
for the H3X, an 18-inch 265/65R tire.
Among its off-road credentials, the H3 can
ford 16 inches (407 mm) of water at 20 mph
or 24-inch (610 mm) streams at a 5-mph pace,
climb 16-inch (407 mm) vertical steps and
rocks, make its way through deep sand and
race easily over sandy surfaces.
H3’s
more maneuverable size provides advantages,
such as a 37-foot
(11.3 m) turning
circle, about the same as a typical compact
car, making easy work of parking lot maneuvers
and tight turns when off-roading. The 9.1-inch
(231 mm) ground clearance and maximum breakover
angle of 25 degrees (with 33-inch tires)
both make it possible to clear large obstacles
in off-road driving. Serious off-road performance
is also aided by the maximum approach angle
of 40 degrees and maximum departure angle
of 37 degrees. These approach and departure
angles permit the H3 to drive into a hole
and back out again, without getting hung
up in the front or rear.
The H3 also provides the refinement, comfort
and convenience required for enjoyable on-road
driving as well. It offers premium options
such as heated leather seats, a large electric
express open/close sliding sunroof, a DVD-based
navigation radio and numerous customized
accessories.
Iconic HUMMER design
H3’s bold looks make it readily identifiable
as a HUMMER. Features such as its wide track
width, short overhangs and huge tires provide
stability, outstanding ground clearance and
quick rock-climbing capability in off-road
driving.
The
H3’s flat, chiseled
surfaces; upright windshield and windows;
signature
seven-slot louvered grille; round headlamps
housed inside square openings; and pronounced
fender flares are all pure HUMMER. Power
and strength emanate from its cube-like metal
billet form.
The
H3’s interior is
inviting and modern, blending premium cues
with world-class
craftsmanship. Upscale touches include a
perforated, leather-wrapped and stitched
steering wheel and automatic transmission
shift handle; bright-accented instrumentation;
brushed, machine-finished trim plates; chrome
door release handles; chrome bezel for the
automatic transmission shifter; and a chrome
H3 emblem in the center of the steering wheel.
Safety, security and OnStar
OnStar-equipped H3s will feature as an option
(with the upgrade to Directions and Connections)
a new service called OnStar Turn-by-Turn
Navigation, the first factory-installed,
fully integrated GPS navigation system
from OnStar by GM. Turn-by-Turn allows
consumers to talk to a live advisor, who
in turn sends complete step-by-step directions
to customers' vehicles through their OnStar
system. These audio directions automatically
play through the vehicle’s stereo
as needed, triggered by the OnStar system’s
GPS capabilities. This enables drivers
to be led to their destination while keeping
their hands on the wheel and eyes on the
road. For more information about OnStar,
see the OnStar Overview in the Product
Information Guide Corporate Book.
The H3 incorporates structural enhancements
and advanced safety systems to assist in
crash avoidance and protection, including
a reinforced passenger compartment safety
cage that helps provide protection in the
event of side and frontal impacts. The strong,
rigid steel structure surrounds the passenger
compartment, runs from the A-pillars to the
roof rail, back to the D-pillars and includes
the bottom rocker panels, under-floor longitudinals
and frame. The all-steel body panels and
exceptionally strong frame further help protect
occupants in a collision. The fully welded,
ladder-type frame optimizes crash performance,
in addition to standing up to rigorous off-road
requirements.
Additional
crash protection is provided by a standard
frontal dual-stage
air bag
system. The H3 has GM’s Passenger Sensing
System, which uses weight-sensing technology
to turn the front passenger air bag on or
off as appropriate. If the sensor system
detects an unoccupied front passenger seat
or the presence of a smaller occupant, the
front passenger air bag is designed to automatically
turn off so it would not deploy in the event
of a frontal collision. Even with this system,
GM strongly recommends restraining child
passengers 12 and under in an appropriate
child seat or, for older children, lap-and-shoulder
belts in the second or third row of the vehicle.
Optional roof rail-mounted, side curtain
air bags drop down to the belt line to help
provide head and rollover protection for
the driver and front passenger. A rollover
protection sensing system also helps protect
occupants against impending rollovers by
triggering side curtain air bags to increase
the likelihood of occupant containment in
a rollover event. Seat belt pretensioners
help keep occupants in the proper position,
reducing their likelihood making contact
with the inside of the vehicle.
H2:
H2
extends and refines H1’s rugged heritage
by adding more creature comforts and maintaining
off-road leadership. It’s a bold and youthful
interpretation of what HUMMER means, in a more civilized
package. Its extreme design makes sure that H2 has
the eye-catching appearance – and brand recognition – of
H1.
For 2007, H2 adds a limited edition model with a “Glacier
Blue” exterior, rear-vision camera system,
carbon fiber interior accents, rear-seat entertainment
with DVD, and more. The rear-vision camera system
also is an option on all H2 models for 2007.
H2's power is derived from the standard Vortec 6.0L
V-8 that generates 325 horsepower (242 kW) at 5200
rpm and 365 lb.-ft. of torque (494 Nm) at 3600 rpm.
The engine is mated to a heavy-duty Hydra-Matic 4L65
four-speed automatic overdrive transmission. Capable
of traveling through streams 20 inches (508 mm) deep,
climbing 16 inch (406 mm) steps and rocks, paddling
through deep sand and outdistancing competitors in
high-speed desert runs, the H2 can do just about
anything.
H2 SUT: This variant of H2 offers added functionality
and versatility. The passenger and cargo areas of
the SUT can be configured for a variety of needs.
When the vehicle needs to carry passengers in the
rear seat as a conventional SUV would, the bulkhead
(called the Midgate) at the rear of the passenger
compartment remains upright, still providing a rear
bed with more than 30 cubic feet (850L) of cargo
space. However, when more cargo space is desired,
the rear window can be powered into the Midgate,
and the Midgate and rear seat can be folded forward
to allow access into the now-expanded 4-foot by 6-foot
(122-cm by 244-cm) pickup bed.
An express-down feature drops all vertical side
windows and rear glass. An expansive sunroof gives
passengers an open-air feel.

2007 HUMMER H2: NEW GLACIER BLUE LIMITED EDITION ADDS
TO UNPARALLELED CAPABILITIES
With its rugged good looks and incredible off-road
capabilities, the HUMMER H2 and H2 SUT have brought
a whole new level of capability and flexibility to
the marketplace.
For 2007, the H2 unveils a new Glacier Blue limited
edition with a rear-vision camera system. The package
features body-color fender moldings and rocker moldings
with an integrated assist step, and a lower-profile
roof-mounted lightbar with integral lamps. Chrome hood
handles, hood latches, hood louver, exterior side vents,
rear D-rings and fuel filler door, and 17-inch flangeless
chrome wheels complete the exterior. Inside, the limited
edition has new carbon fiber appearance accents. The
exterior hue is a light, silvery blue.
In addition, the Glacier Blue limited edition has
a heated windshield wiper system with warm fluid on
demand that removes snow, ice and debris, and a rear-seat
DVD system with dual headrest-mounted viewing screens,
each with individual DVD-players and wireless headphones.
It debuts in late summer as a 2007 model, and will
be available in the United States, Canada, Mexico and
the Middle East.
Other changes for all 2007 H2 models include an optional
rear-vision camera system and a new rear-seat DVD system
with dual headrest-mounted viewing screens.
The
rear-vision system features a 3.5-inch full-color
display housed in the rearview mirror,
which receives
its picture from a universal rear mounted camera. When
the vehicle is put into Reverse, the video display
automatically deploys from the side of the mirror,
providing the driver an image of the area behind the
vehicle both day and night. The display is in the driver’s
natural line of sight, and the slide-out display won’t
compromise a driver’s traditional field of view
or create distracting glare. The screen then retracts
back into the mirror when the vehicle is shifted out
of Reverse.
H2 at heart, HUMMER in the soul
Every H2 starts with a fully welded ladder-type frame
that features a modular, three-piece design incorporating
a number of hydroformed components. The result is
outstanding strength, stiffness and dimensional accuracy.
Ensuring on-road ride comfort and control, as well
as off-road capability, is H2's standard independent
front torsion bar and five-link coil spring rear
suspension. The solid rear axle ensures durable sure-footedness,
particularly in tight, off-road situations. A self-leveling
rear air spring suspension system is available for
severe off-road and towing requirements.
The H2 and H2 SUT have short overhangs for radical
approach and departure angles and exceptional ground
clearance for minimal impact on trails. The 17-inch
wheels, heavy-duty independent front suspension and
five-link rear suspension provide superior handling,
carrying and towing capability.
H2's power is derived from the standard Vortec 6.0L
V-8 that generates 325 horsepower (242 kW) at 5200
rpm and 365 lb.-ft. of torque (495 Nm) at 4000 rpm.
The engine is mated to a heavy-duty Hydra-Matic 4L65
four-speed rear-wheel drive electronically controlled
automatic overdrive transmission. H2 also features
a standard, powertrain-integrated Borg-Warner two-speed
electrically controlled full-time 4WD system. It's
capable of further reducing H2's gear ratios by 2.64:1
when necessary, for highly controlled obstacle climbing.
A Bosch four-channel anti-lock braking/traction control
system (ABS/TCS) provides optimum control on slippery
surfaces. In addition, the ABS can detect and adjust
its braking capabilities to rough off-road surfaces
like gravel and potholes. The TCS also includes the
ability to gain traction through a single wheel, if
necessary, and more wheel slip in a second traction
control mode for sand and desert racing conditions.
Styling matches uncompromising off-road ability
Daring and attention-getting is how the H2’s
exterior design is often described. The H2 and H2 SUT
are instantly recognizable as belonging to a highly
exclusive brand at the top of its class in off-road
performance. The look and feel conveys the sense of
power, authority and complete control that buyers seek.
H2’s square-shaped body and upright windshield
and windows combine to create significant interior
room. The vertical glass opens up a broader front and
wider side view. In a nod to the functional aspect
of design, exposed components, like hood lift handles,
hood latches and fasteners, give H2’s appearance
an individually component-assembled quality. Exposed
components and mechanical elements are functional and
convey ruggedness.
Luxury meets ruggedness in H2's interior
H2's rugged exterior gives way to a luxurious interior.
It begins with standard leather seats with eight-way
power adjustment for the front seat cushions and
backs. Also standard is a memory feature for the
driver’s seat that allows two drivers to select
and set their preferred positions. The leather seats
include heated seat backs and cushions with three
temperature settings for the front occupants. Heated
cushions serve to keep second-row occupants comfortable.
For maximum flexibility, the second-row seats can
be individually folded. With the SUV, a single-passenger
seat is available for the third row, giving the SUV
six-passenger capacity.
H2 SUT
Like its brother, the H2 SUV, the SUT carries passengers
and cargo with comfort and ease. With four passengers
on board, the bulkhead at the rear of the SUT’s
passenger compartment remains upright, still providing
ample cargo-carrying capacity.
When cargo requires more space, a 4-foot by 6-foot
(122-cm by 244-cm) pickup bed can be created by powering
the rear window into the Midgate, then folding forward
the Midgate and rear seat.
Practicality
aside, there’s a side to the H2
SUT that’s just plain fun. At the push of a single
button, the driver can lower all four side windows
and the rear window. Using a separate switch, the standard
sunroof can also be opened, giving SUT a truly open-air
feeling.
Of
course, the H2 SUT is an H2 at heart, and the H2
is every bit the truck that first captured
the market’s
fancy in 2002. It’s also a HUMMER first and foremost.
That means it's capable of traveling through streams
20 inches (508 mm) deep, climbing 16-inch (406-mm)
steps and rocks, paddling through deep sand and outdistancing
competitors in high-speed desert runs.
Ask for directions? Never!
The beauty of a HUMMER is the ability to go pretty
much anywhere. And on road it’s not a problem
if the driver is unsure of how to get there, thanks
to the available Navigation Radio. With the push
of a button, the navigation operation will instantly
map routes with 2-D and 3-D full-color map views
on a 5.8-inch (147-mm) display screen, making navigation
on highways and streets effortless.
Also available is XM Satellite Radio (continental
U.S. only), which provides more than 120 coast-to-coast,
digital-quality channels of original commercial-free
music and premier news, sports and talk as well as
advanced traffic and weather information for select
major metropolitan areas nationwide. Consumers can
subscribe to the basic service for $12.99 a month.
In addition, GM customers with GMAC financing can choose
to include the XM subscription in their car payments.
H2 safety, comfort and convenience features include
standard frontal air bags; four-way adjustable headrests,
arm rests and seat-mounted lap-shoulder belts for front
passengers; lap and C pillar-mounted shoulder belts
for second-row outboard passengers and a seat-mounted
lap-shoulder belt for the center passenger; and a seat-mounted
lap-shoulder belt and adjustable headrest for the optional
third-row seat.
The
OnStar safety and security system is standard on
every H2 and H2 SUT, and features
OnStar Dual-mode
(analog-digital) equipment. OnStar’s digital
equipment also includes enhanced hands-free voice recognition
capabilities including more intuitive continuous digit
dialing and improved voice recognition accuracy. OnStar
is the leading provider of in-vehicle safety, security
and information services in the United States and Canada.
Using the GPS satellite network and wireless technology,
OnStar features core safety services and OnStar Hands-Free
Calling that allows drivers to make and receive voice-activated
phone calls using an externally mounted antenna for
greater reception. For more information about OnStar,
see the OnStar Overview in the Product Information
Guide Corporate Book.
