The King Shocks Backdoor Shoot Out is a new addition to the 2014 Griffin King of the Hammers week. The Southern Rock Racing Series (SRRS) vs Ultra4, or east vs west, competition started at the end of last season while in Arkansas at an Ultra4 Eastern Series event. When the idea came up to have an event at the King of the Hammers, it was a simple decision to make the obstacle the very well known Backdoor: a 12ft waterfall climb with a long rocky lead up section and a secondary multilevel climb. It is one of the most talked about obstacles by all the drivers at the King of the Hammers. The number of people watching the coverage of this live event on the Internet peaked higher than last years race-day coverage. It was entertaining, challenging and a rush for the drivers.

The best of show, Matt Myrick, won $2,500 when his rear axle came off and he continued to drive forward without it. The fastest girl up Backdoor was Charlene Bower, who was running BFGoodrich 39” Red Label Krawlers.
