COLORADO - Colorado Roadless Rule Public Meetings Announced
Dear BRC Alert Subscriber,
Last April, BRC blasted the news that the US Forest Service released the Proposed Colorado Roadless Rule for a 90-day public comment period, which ends on July 14, 2011.

We just began reviewing the documents, but we want you to know that both BRC and COHVCO (Colorado Off Highway Vehicle Coalition) will be detailing their best legal brainpower to looking at any possible impacts to recreational access.
We received word from the Forest Service that they will host a series of nine public meetings throughout Colorado and in Washington, DC in order for the public to learn more about the Rule. (See schedule of meeting dates and venues below)
The three basic purposes for these meetings are to: 1) increase public understanding about the proposed rule, 2) explain how input gathered from the public during the previous comment periods was incorporated into the rule, and 3) respond to questions from the public.
Keep in mind these are informational meetings and not really the best opportunity to submit your comments. Stay tuned to BRC and COHVCO for future information and comment suggestions.
Although registration is not required to attend, the FS is asking people to please register for the meetings to help assist in planning. Please register for these meetings at http://coroadless.eventbrite.com.

Nor will the agency be recording the meetings for inclusion in the rulemaking record. This format is based on input received from a diversity of stakeholders on how best to design public meetings. As with any rulemaking process, attendees wishing to provide comments for the record will need to submit them in writing and will have the opportunity to do so at the meetings.
