Two-wheel drive lift technology goes to new heights with 4.5-inch and 7-inch spindle lift systems for 2003-2013 Ram ½-tons

MaxTrac-Ram-2WD-7inch-lift.jpg Anaheim, Calif. — MaxTrac Suspension released new lift systems that incorporate the company’s signature lift spindles. For 2003-2013 Ram 1500 2WD trucks, the new MaxTrac knuckles – cast from ductile iron and finished with a durable black e-coat for corrosion-resistance – provide 4.5 inches of lift. This provides enough wheelwell clearance to fit many 35-inch-tall tires without having to trim the fenders.

MaxTrac engineered the knuckles to clear the factory wheels. So, installing this system doesn’t automatically require the additional expense of aftermarket wheels. If custom wheels are desired, MaxTrac recommends an 8-inch-wide model, minimum 17-inch diameter, with maximum backspacing of 5.5 inches.

The new MaxTrac knuckles only increase track width by one inch per side. This helps improve stability without severely affecting tracking and turning radius.

MaxTrac-Ram-2WD-7inch-photo.jpg The complete MaxTrac 4.5-inch system includes DOT-approved front braided-steel brake lines and extended-length shocks: either ultra-affordable MaxTrac twin-tube models or premium Bilstein 5100 Series nitrogen-charged monotubes.

Bilstein nitrogen-charged monotube shocks are race-proven and have long been the industry standard for consistent, compliant performance – on and off the pavement. Their monotube, extruded bodies dissipate heat better than twin-tube designs. Bilstein coats these shocks with a rust-resistant silver zinc plating. Piston shafts are chrome-hardened for toughness. Valving is application-specific. Bilstein uses a digressive system, which allows compression and rebound to be valved independently.

To level these Rams’ rears, MaxTrac uses either tapered steel blocks and longer U-bolts (2003-2008 trucks) or coil spacers made from aircraft-quality aluminum (2009-2013 models). A choice of MaxTrac or upgraded Bilstein rear shocks is also offered.

Ram owners who want to fit 37-inch tires with no fender modifications can step up to MaxTrac’s 7-inch Monster Kit. It adds progressive-rate front coil springs and proper-length braided-steel brake lines and shocks (MaxTrac or Bilstein).

Rear Monster components are taller leveling blocks and longer U-bolts for the leaf-sprung models or taller progressive-rate coils for 2009-2013 Rams 1500s. Sway bar drop brackets and a trac bar relocation bracket to center the rear axle are included in all 7-inch kits. The choice of rear MaxTrac or Bilstein shocks and all mounting hardware is part of the package. Components are backed by MaxTrac’s limited lifetime warranty.
