Project: Rim Rocker Reassurance Makers
Location: Moab, Utah

Description: This project was funded by Can-Am Off-Road. Can-Am has committed to funding twelve trail stewardship projects in the state of Utah in partnership with Tread Lightly! to help maintain and improve access to public lands and off-road trails.

On August 11th, Tread Lightly! staff and the US Forest Service set off to install new carsonites and trail markers on the Rim Rocker trail which travels through the Manti-Lasalle National Forest near Moab, Utah. The work was made easier by the Can-Am Defender Max Limited provide by Can-Am to Tread Lightly! as the Team was able to cover nearly 60 miles on the day.

The new carsonites and stickers will provide clearer directions for riders and also protect against travel into non-designated areas.

This work was important as this area received substantial impact from near 300” of snow during the Winter of 2022-2023.

Thank you to the partners who made this possible:

  • Can-Am Offroad
  • USFS Moab Office
  • Montrose County

“We don’t get to work with USFS in Moab as much as we work with BLM’s Moab Field Office, but this project provided a great opportunity to complete some positive work with the USFS. The Rim Rocker trail provides so many unbelievable views of the higher elevations as well as the distance red rock near Moab. We want more people to be able to experience those and have clear direction as to where they are traveling. The Defender Max Limited made the day fun, but also allowed us to get a lot accomplished.” Matt Caldwell, Tread Lightly! Executive Director
