Rob Klinger's '81 CJ-5

KlingerAbout 5 years ago I was on my way to buy my first vehicle, an 89 Samauri when I spotted an '81 Jeep CJ-5 for sale. I always wanted a Jeep, so I stopped and looked and soon decided to buy it. It needed a lot of work, from new paint to a new driveshaft.

I soon got to work preping the body for a new paint job and ordered a new top and seats. Changes were minimal in the first year. I soon aded a new CD player and a CB. After new A/T tires were installed I started to take it fourwheeling in the mountains of North Carolina. Until about 2 1/2 years ago it stayed prety much stock. I bought a Ramsey winch, which started everything. Next to come was a rear locker and Moser axles. Then Optima, lights, lift, and gears came next to produce my Jeep as it is now. More is planned, but time and money are a major factor.

KlingerIn late 95, I joined the Carolina Trailblazers 4WD Club, which also got me involved with the Southern 4WD Association and United 4WD Association. This got me more involved with organized fourwheeling, including the Trailblazers's 25th Anniversary ride and most recent, the Dixie Run at the Upper Tellico OHV area. I got to see many different areas of the state as well as meet lots of people with similar interests. This got me more involved and I started to get more serious with my vehicle and trail riding.
