JeepThing's '97
Teraflexxed TJ
Getting DEEP into the woods, deserts, and mountains, and finding adventure around every corner can hook a person quicker than even the most addictive drugs.... and it can be way more expensive if your not careful.
I have been into off roading since childhood... I've had many vehicles for offroading through the years.... Blazers, Broncos, P/Us, ATVs, Motorcycles, Rail Buggies... even Remote Control off road vehicles (lol)... But this Jeep TJ... Well, I fell in love.... With a chunk of steel. I am still amazed and thankfull that Chrysler found it in themselves to stick by what Jeep Stands for as much as possible when they booted up their autocad and redesigned the new Wrangler. The end result, out of the box, the TJ... pretty damn amazing for a new Jeep revival!
TJ2GO started out as a stock 97 TJ SE (yah, 4 banger) with full doors and a softop. I left most of the options and conveniences with the Jeep Dealer because I knew what I wanted to do with this Jeep already..... And Chrysler just didn't offer many options I was willing to pay for. I drove this thing home with the donut tires. I started out by adding a Teraflex Lift Kit, 33X12.50 BFG MTs, Rancho 9000's with In-Cab Adjust (nifty little feature). Those were the things that I thought were neccessary to do the kind of Jeepin I wanted to do with TJ2GO. Nothing major... just a lift, shocks, tires and wheels. About two grand is all it takes to turn a TJ into a super trail machine that will take you anywhere.... anytime.
Shortly after I became addicted to Jeeping ( I live in Missouri), I discovered that the Midwest had some of the best kept secrets in the world of off road adventures, but the attitude of the Forest System here was extremely non-receptive to recreational use of public lands for off roading. I thought that was the stupidest thing I had ever discovered about the region I live in, because most of the Jeepers I knew were very responsible with tread lightly issues, and after all, we are entitled to use of our public lands.
Well, any way, two Jeeps and a few years later.... here I am... Hopelessy addicted to Jeeps and well versed in everything Jeep. I guess you could say, I'm deep into Jeep.... And lovin it! If you would like to know more about my TJ, and our adventures..... visit www.jeepthing.com |
