John Farley's Rockcrawler Samurai

Mud LiteMud Lite is my seventh project Suzuki. I have been running Samies for the past ten years, any usually each one gets parts off the last. I started this project three years ago, and it has been going ever since. This one being an '85, is a hybrid version of an SJ410 and the new SJ413.

The leaf springs are 3" inboard, and once I swapped the wider 86 axles in , the 35" Boggers had plenty of room. Lift came in the order of leaf-over, and 3" body lift. The main question people ask me when they hear that I run 35's is, " What engine...?" All I say is its all in the gears. With a 77:1 final , and some extra engine mods to its 1.3L, she has enough to get her into trouble......deeper.......further......and usually through.

Mud LiteMost of the trails in the Ottawa area are Mud, deep water crosings, Mud, dence forest, Mud, did I say MUD? The most recent casualty on the rig was ripping my t-case bracket in half, and blowing up my rear end. If your going to play..you gotta pay. Usually one set back just leads to more modifacations. Track bar to limit axle wrap, goofie leaf to get more articulation, 15 gallon tank to allow for the rear goofie leaf, and of course, a locker up front.

As President of the Ottawa Valley Offroaders for the past 5 years and previously, Vise President of the Suzuki Super Offroaders, I have had the great pleasure of meeting many interesting people with the same affliction that we have. Maybe some day Doctors or Wives will be able to come up with a cure, but until then lets have fun. Quote of the month " Play young....Stay young"

Mud LiteThis month is build up month, getting ready for the Highland Jamboree in Ontario. We have 16 vehicles in attendance of the 60 registered. Swing by the Ottawa Valley Offroaders site to see more on the Jamboree and the build up of "Mud Lite".

We are planning a trip down to Death Valley, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, and Texas at Christmas. Hope to see some of you on the trails. If you are interested in linking up with us, let me know.
