General Tire Celebrates BITD Championships

12bitd ss300 teamgt web 043 220x146 General Tire Celebrates BITD ChampionshipsFort Mill, SC – December 17, 2012.  As the 2012 Best In The Desert (BITD) season came to a close at Henderson, Nevada, General Tire celebrated three class championships with members of Team GT.  For the second straight year, Jim Riley topped the points in the 6100 Class with his Azunia Tequila Ford.  Riley battled the rugged deserts of the southwest to post three wins in 2012, including a win at the coveted General Tire Mint 400.  Through it all, it was the “team” mentality that helped Riley to the class championship.

Racers will use Geolandar® tires to tackle ‘the longest off-road race in the U.S.’

Cameron Steele in action at 2012 Baja 500 220x182 Yokohama Tire Corporation Sponsored Off Roaders Cameron and Heidi Steele Gearing up for ‘Vegas to Reno’ Race, August 16 18FULLERTON, CA. – (Aug. 14, 2012) – Yokohama Tire Corporation-sponsored Cameron and Heidi Steele – the husband and wife team known as “off-road racing’s power couple” – will be back in action at the Best in the Desert’s 534-mile “Vegas to Reno” race, August 16-18. Cameron and Heidi will tackle “the longest off-road race in the U.S.” on Geolandar® tires.

Heidi, whose five off-road season championships include a 2008 Best in the Desert title, will be competing in her second race this year after becoming a mother in March. She placed second in June’s Baja 500 in a Ford Ranger equipped with off-the-shelf Geolandar M/T+® tires. She’ll be competing on the same tires in the 7200 Class at the Vegas to Reno contest. 277 General Tire Kicks Off Best In The Desert Series Atop the Podium at 'Parker 425'Fort Mill, SC – February 7, 2012. The Best In The Desert (BITD) Series kicked off at the “Parker 425” over the weekend in Parker, Arizona and Team GT started the 2012 season off on the right foot. Following a 12th-place qualifying effort, Mikey Childress fought through a course that over time; became rougher and tougher to navigate. The California-native worked his way through traffic to finish third in class 1 and sixth overall with a time of 7:37:51. A solid start to the season for the Team GT veteran. Read More→

Phoenix, AZ – 12/26/11 -With the 2011 Best In The Desert (BITD) season complete, Brandon Schueler and the Jagged-X desert off-road race team fell just a few points short of capturing their 5th Pro-UTV championship in as many years. Despite falling short, Brandon and the factory sponsored Polaris racing team Jagged-X, still viewed the season as a success. The team managed to win their 5th consecutive Vegas-to-Reno race, currently the longest race in North America and by far the most difficult in the BITD series. e1323790484 Mad Media & Best in The Desert to Produce the Greatest Off Road Race in the World   The Legendary Mint 400The world-renowned General Tire Mint 400 was recently acquired by The Martelli Brothers – partners in the nationally recognized marketing/production group Mad Media – who have since formed a multi-year partnership with Casey Folks of Best in the Desert to manage the event.  The Mint will now be part of The Best in the Desert American Off-Road Racing Series, but will remain open to privateers.  Hundreds of race teams will compete in twenty different classes of race vehicles at next year’s Mint 400, which will take place the weekend of March 23rd – 25th 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada. And he did just that. Following a strenuous Henderson 250 full of ups and downs, Baldwin edged out Steve Strobel for the championship. The Trick Truck championship marks his second in as many years. e1323134658 Adam Householder Takes The Trick Truck Victory In HendersonAdam Householder just keeps getting faster and faster.  After starting 28th off the line at Best In The Desert’s (BITD) Silver State 300 earlier this season, Householder shocked the competition and brought home his first Trick Truck win (BITD’s equivalent of SCORE Trophy Trucks).  Since that time Householder has consistently put the No. 24 Householder Motorsports Ford near the top of the standings in both BITD and SCORE International; the only driver to earn Top Five season standings in the most elite class of each of these series.
