Desert Assassins’ Cameron Steele competing on Yokohama GEOLANDAR A/T-S® R tires

Cam Steele racing to third place in the 2014 Baja 1000SANTA ANA, CA (Jan. 23, 2015) – The Yokohama Tire Corporation (YTC)-sponsored Desert Assassins off-road racing team heads to Mexico this week for the season-opening SCORE San Felipe 250, January 24. Veteran Trophy Truck driver Cameron Steele will pilot the 800-horsepower No. 16 Geiser Brothers Trophy Truck, mounted on off-road, race-engineered Yokohama GEOLANDAR A/T-S® R tires.

In his last race, Steele, a two-time SCORE (Southern California Off Road Enthusiasts) Person of the Year, earned a third-place finish in the iconic SCORE Baja 1000 last November.

Now Steele and the Desert Assassins are setting their sights on tackling the tough terrain of San Felipe.

“We’re confident about San Felipe and the upcoming season,” said Steele. “San Felipe is a demanding course and we’re looking forward to improving upon last year’s success. With the support of Yokohama and the GEOLANDAR tire, we’ve got high hopes.”

Approximately 150 racers from around the world will compete on the 257.2-mile course, which is part of the five-race SCORE World Desert Championship series.

“We’re excited to get a jump on the year and start the off-road season in January,” said Duane Sampson, YTC motorsports manager. “Desert racing continues to be an important arena for us and we’re looking to capitalize on the strides we’ve made thus far.”

Racers will use Geolandar® tires to tackle ‘the longest off-road race in the U.S.’

FULLERTON, CA. – (Aug. 14, 2012) – Yokohama Tire Corporation-sponsored Cameron and Heidi Steele – the husband and wife team known as “off-road racing’s power couple” – will be back in action at the Best in the Desert’s 534-mile “Vegas to Reno” race, August 16-18. Cameron and Heidi will tackle “the longest off-road race in the U.S.” on Geolandar® tires.

Heidi, whose five off-road season championships include a 2008 Best in the Desert title, will be competing in her second race this year after becoming a mother in March. She placed second in June’s Baja 500 in a Ford Ranger equipped with off-the-shelf Geolandar M/T+® tires. She’ll be competing on the same tires in the 7200 Class at the Vegas to Reno contest. Steele received the first qualifying spot for the two-day SCORE (Southern California Off Road Enthusiasts) event, which, for the first time, will be divided into two races. FULLERTON, CA (Aug. 9, 2011) – Yokohama Tire Corporation collected two first-place victories in the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series (LOORRS) event, August 7 at Glen Helen Raceway near San Bernardino, California. Longtime Yokohama-sponsored racer Cameron Steele captured his first Lucas Oil race of the season in the Pro Lite Class, as did Chad George, who took the title in the Super Lites Class. 30-Second Spot Features Off-Road Stars Cameron and Heidi Steele in a High-Speed Update of Classic Kids’ Game, “Duck, Duck, Goose”

FULLERTON, CA (April 14, 2011) – Yokohama Tire Corporation (YTC) recently rolled out a high-powered, high-speed television commercial based on the classic kids’ game, “Duck, Duck, Goose” (DDG).

The 30-second spot, shot in February at the San Bernardino International Airport, broke nationally on ABC during the 12 Hours of Sebring endurance race. It features off-road champions Cameron and Heidi Steele – both Yokohama-sponsored drivers – whipping around a circle of high-performance vehicles all equipped with Yokohama tires. Cameron (a Baja 1000 champion) in his 800-horsepower off-road truck and Heidi (a Baja 500 and 1000 champion) in a bright yellow Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera chasing after him.  Read More→
