The event took place at the Johnson Valley OHV Area in California’s Mojave Desert. After a random 6 draw started Kaminsky and Jenkins at the rear of the field in 22nd position, they maneuvered through the pack to finish 10th in an elapsed time of 8 hours 59 minutes. Due to the difficulty of the course, fewer than half of the racers completed the course in the allotted time limit of ten hours. Declared as the hardest one-day off road endurance race in the world, the course consisted of approximately 120 miles of high-speed desert segments across sand washes, washboard roads, dry lakebeds and 11 of the country’s most challenging rock crawling trails. Promises Delivered

2012 marked a year of significant improvements & growth

  • King of the Hammers is now known and respected as the single toughest one  day off-road race in the world and has become the “no miss” event. A full  vendor show complements five stand alone racing events culminating in  Friday’s Griffin King of the Hammers.
  • Hammertown not only became a city in desert, but a full service event venue.
  • Spectators watched the action live from Hammertown via the largest mobile  HD LED jumbotron available and a strategically prepared short course and  hot pit area.
  • Cutting edge live show integrating wireless cameras to a microwave and  satellite feed was tested and successful, paving the way for expanded  future coverage. Online spectators turned out en masse to watch the action. Viewership  quadrupled from 2011.
  • Race day was a success for vendors. Hammertown was no longer a ghost  town on race day, but a major revenue and exposure opportunity for our  partners.
  • Strategic media plan focused on branding KOH and maximizing media beyond  a handful of endemic media outlets.
  • King of the Hammers continues to be a mark of credibility and durability in  automotive and racing. Read More→

146 John Currie Wins Everyman Challenge at King of the Hammers John Currie Wins Everyman Challenge at King of the Hammers

In a masterful display of driving skill, King Shocks racers John Currie and co-driver Gerald Lee won the inaugural Everyman Challenge held Sunday, Feb. 5th, 2012 at the King of the Hammers (KOH) event in Johnson Valley, Ca. Currie was competing against 18 other “stock” class competitors and also beat all 17 drivers in the much more altered “modified” class. Currie was running factory style coil springs on his Jeep, LJ and a single 2.5″ King “Smoothie” shock with a hose remote reservoir on each wheel. King’s smoothie shock is the most basic shock style in the King product line-up. What makes the King “Smoothie” stand out is the tunable internal valving, quality materials and strict precision tolerances that all contribute to the superior damping performance John Currie used to dominate the race. Currie finished a full 15 minutes ahead of the second place finisher who was driving a “modified” class rig. Read More→
