295 General Tire Mint 400 RewindFort Mill, SC – March 29, 2012. In front of an estimated crowd of over 25,000 fans, Team GT took to the south Las Vegas desert for the 2012 General Tire Mint 400 over the weekend. The weekend kicked off with the first annual pit crew competition won by none other than Team GT member Rick D. Johnson. With the help of Mikey Childress, Johnson posted a time of just under one minute to beat out General Tire team member Jason Voss for the win. The following night, General Tire helped crown 2012 Miss Mint winner, Vanessa Golub-Ferrara. A fantastic start to the weekend which saw a harsh desert claim many victims throughout the 400-mile race. Big Ugly Crashes at 96MPH in The Mint 400

March 25, 2011–Las Vegas, NV:  At race mile 11.5 of The Mint 400 Kevin Sacalas of Big Ugly Racing experienced a rollover at 96 miles per hour (MPH). While this was Sacalas’ first time racing The Mint 400, he is no stranger to desert racing. Sacalas placed first in the Ultra4 class in the 1000 mile 2009 Best in the Desert Vegas to Reno race and second in the 2010 Best in the Desert Silver State 300.

e1301613661 Ballistic BJ Baldwin Uses Home Field Advantage  To Win 2011 General Tire SNORE Mint 400BJ Baldwin came into the 2011 General Tire SNORE Mint 400 with only one goal for the weekend: victory.  After overcoming a host of setbacks to earn a second place finish last year, the only room for improvement for Ballistic BJ was an overall win.  While some series have a drawing for starting position, SNORE holds qualifying to determine starting order.  This allowed Baldwin to rely on his skills instead of the luck of the draw.  The result: a first place qualifying position in his No. 97 General Tire / Monster Energy Unlimited Truck. The Mint course is comprised of rocks, big rocks, little rocks, sharp rocks and deeply embedded rocks that seem to be cast in concrete. 2011 03 RogerNormanMint400 300x230 Roger Norman Podiums at 2011 Mint 400RENO, NV     MARCH 29, 2011  – Roger Norman was in the front pack for the entire 2011 SNORE Mint 400 finishing 3rd in the Trophy Truck class, 5th overall. After a qualifying run that had everyone talking, the #8 Crystal Bay Casino trophy truck took the second starting position.  Norman maintained the second place position for the first lap, gained the lead in the second lap but then fell back to finishing third after an hour long on course repair.  “It was rocky and dusty and tires played a huge role in the race, our BFGoodrich tires really withstood the beating,” said Roger Norman.
