traxxas 11 800x533 SEMA 2013: Rob MacCachrens TRAXXAS Race Truck

Even though you’re probably familiar with TRAXXAS—this isn’t an R/C car—it’s a serious off-road racing machine. Rob MacCachren’s TRAXXAS race truck is one of the more well-used race rigs we’ve seen at SEMA so far. Rob’s truck has 35″ tires, gnarly FOX Racing suspension, and more travel than you probably know what to do with. Check it out here.  Read More→

Athletes who took victories in limited open-wheeled cars and big V8-powered trucks say winning races has become more about intense full-speed, all-out racing.

2012 FOX off road desert championships push and test limits of man and machineEL CAJON, Calif.  While no one would ever call off-road desert racing easy, its evolution has seen the races become more challenging and strenuous on both the drivers and the equipment. The long and diverse list of 2012 championship-winning athletes show what it takes to win in some of the most demanding racing styles in the world.

Running everything from 68-horsepower 1/2-1600 cars to 800-horsepower trick trucks, each class of off-road race vehicle has its own unique demands. This year’s desert champions relied on their suspension systems, among other things, to outperform the competition. Read More→

e1353346403 MasterCraft Racing Wins The Battle Against The Desert, But Baja Wins The War“Every mile of every race there are situations that can end your day,” Rob MacCachren reflects from La Paz.  “Crashes, fires, booby traps… Baja demonstrates this every year.”  With 1121 treacherous miles to cover in the 45th Annual SCORE Baja 1000 and three dozen Trophy Trucks fighting to etch their names into history, there is little margin for error.  Unfortunately for MacCachren and his teammates campaigning the No. 20 ROCKSTAR Energy Drink / BFGoodrich Tires / MasterCraft Safety truck, luck was not on their side.  Read More→

scaled e1333390809 Rob MacCachren Puts ROCKSTAR Energy Drink and Makita Tools On the Podium in LOORRS Season OpenerThe first race with a new truck is never an easy task, even with the considerable talents of Rob MacCachren behind the wheel.  MacCachren has already racked up wins in the desert this season at Laughlin, San Felipe, and the Mint 400, but the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) short course season is just heating up.  Speaking of heat, it was an issue in qualifying where temperatures at Firebird International Raceway in Phoenix were in the 90s, revealing a cooling issue with MacCachren’s brand new Pro2 Unlimited truck.  This limited Rob Mac’s practice time on the several high speed sections, spectacular jumps, and unique dual split line of Firebird’s track. e1331491934 ROCKSTAR Energy Drink's Rob MacCachren Claims The Overall Victory At The MasterCraft Safety Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 For The Second Year In A Row
Luck may have allowed Rob MacCachren the top starting position for this past weekend’s 26th annual MasterCraft Safety Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250, but it was Rob’s impressive driving skills and the ROCKSTAR Energy Drink / BFGoodrich Tires / MasterCraft Safety team that put him at the finish line first.  Any advantage that MacCachren was hoping to capitalize on by starting out front was taken away by Race Mile 4 when a spectator constructed booby trap resulted in a flat tire that let six competitors pass while MacCachren’s co-driver, Cisco Bio, was performing the tire swap.  So much for clean air! It took 50 miles for the patient veteran to regain five of those positions in his No. 20 Jimco-built Trophy Truck campaigned under the MasterCraft Racing banner with the support of Rockstar Energy Drink, BFGoodrich Tires and Fox Racing Shox. The No. 20 Rockstar Energy Drink / BFGoodrich Tires Driver sits Second in SCORE Points

scaled e1326765640 Rob MacCachren Claims the Overall Victory at SCORE's Second Round of Racing at the Laughlin Desert ChallengeWith 190 career victories and 20 series championships, Rob MacCachren has demonstrated that you cannot build a reputation on what you are going to do, but instead what you have already done.  Given MacCachren’s impressive resume of successes and extensive collection of trophies, it would be difficult for anyone to imagine that he has anything left to prove – except maybe to himself.  Adding another trophy and victory to his collection during the second round of SCORE International racing this past weekend, Rob MacCachren once again proved to himself and others he is a force to be reckoned with. scaled e1326168575 MasterCraft Racing’s Robbie Pierce and Rob MacCachren Double Down at the 2012 Laughlin Desert ChallengeIt has been said, “a journey is measured in friends and not in miles.”  For anyone who races, it can be measured in both and this has certainly been the case for MasterCraft Racing’s Robbie Pierce and Rob MacCachren.  What began as a serendipitous venture at SCORE’s 2009 Primm 300 race has evolved into a top-level racing partnership that, like anything worth doing, has solidified the respect and friendship of two teammates and had it’s share of victories, losses, heartbreaks and truly gratifying moments. scaled e1323719755 Black Flags Do Not Console ROCKSTAR Energy Drink Driver Rob MacCachren In Short Course FinaleRob MacCachren came to Firebird International Raceway for the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) season finale looking to add a sixth win in the 15 round series.  He qualified third on Friday, putting him on the second row for Saturday’s last points race of the season. Rob Mac was out front in the ROCKSTAR Energy Drink / BFGoodrich Tires / MasterCraft Safety truck and set the fast lap for the race.  He was well on his way to yet another victory when Brian Deegan dove under MacCachren in Turn 3 late in the race and put Rob on his roof.  Deegan was black flagged for his actions and moved to the back of the pack, but the damage had been done and Rob limped around the track to finish mid-pack.  Rob Mac’s five victories in Pro2 Unlimited are more than any other competitor, but incidents like Saturday’s resulted in some uneven finishes this season that caused MacCachren to finish second in points. scaled e1322880795 ROCKSTAR Energy Drink’s Rob MacCachren Heads to Phoenix for Short Course FinaleAt the end of another year of racing, Rob MacCachren has racked up five wins in fourteen rounds of Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS).  Perhaps even more impressive is that LOORRS is only one of three series that MacCachren competes in.  He was also victorious at three TRAXXAS The Off Road Championship (TORC) races and had two wins (in only five races) in SCORE desert racing.  Still, perhaps the most important race of the year is yet to come.  “This is the biggest pay day in short course,” MacCachren noted of the Lucas Oil Challenge Cup, “and I want my piece of it.”  $30,000 is on the line as Rob pits the No. 1 ROCKSTAR Energy Drink / BFGoodrich Tires / MasterCraft Safety truck not only against his normal Pro2 Unlimited competition, but the Pro4 Unlimited 4WD trucks are on the same course as well.  MacCachren is no stranger to cup races, having won three Borg Warner Cups during his prestigious short course career. scaled e1321923281 Rob MacCachren Wins The Battle Against Baja But Loses The War For The Season TitleWhile the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 was only 692 miles long this year, none of those miles came easy for any team.  “In Baja you don’t necessarily race against each other,” explained five time Baja 1000 winner Rob MacCachren, “you race against Baja itself.”  After conquering San Felipe to win both SCORE races there earlier this season, the notorious whoops finally got their revenge when the No. 20 ROCKSTAR Energy Drink / MasterCraft Safety / BFGoodrich Tires Trophy Truck experienced suspension component failure that additionally took out the power steering at Race Mile 458.  At that time Rob Mac was fourth physically on course and chasing his first SCORE season championship as driver of record after assisting so many other teams in the past as a hired gun. e1321042836 Rockstar Energy Drinks Rob MacCachren Hopes No. 20 + No. 30 Equal No. 1 At The Tecate SCORE Baja 1000
MasterCraft Racing is employing some “new math” in their campaign to win a SCORE International desert racing season championship.  20 + 30 = 1 at the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 as No. 30 driver Robbie Pierce will park his Jimco truck and forfeit his fifth place starting position to share driving duties in the No. 20 ROCKSTAR Energy Drink / MasterCraft Safety / BFGoodrich Tires Trophy Truck with eight time SCORE season champion Rob MacCachren.   Rob Mac is currently second in the standings to former protégé Bryce Menzies, who clings to a slim six point lead in season points.  Should MacCachren and Pierce win the Baja 1000 they will clinch the coveted SCORE Trophy Truck season title as well.
