Curt LeDuc in the No. 43 Makita Tools / Truxxx Lift and Level Ford

Team LeDuc Racing considers Glen Helen Raceway their home track for its close proximity to their Cherry Valley headquarters, and the bleachers were packed with LeDuc fans last weekend for Rounds 5 and 6 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS).  The LeDucs even sponsored the second annual Racers for Christ raffle for Chaplain Steve Hansen, under the perfect Southern California weather.  The good karma certainly didn’t hurt, as Team LeDuc Racing had their most successful weekend of short course racing this season. Most of the 17 professional off-road drivers in Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series’ (LOORRS) premier Pro2 Unlimited class are ecstatic if they ever manage to reach the podium.  ROCKSTAR Energy Drink’s Rob MacCachren holds himself to a higher standard though, constantly striving to be the best at whatever he does.  This iron will has allowed “Rockstar Rob” to earn three consecutive Pro2 Unlimited short course racing championships in as many years.  Coming into last weekend’s racing at historic Glen Helen Raceway, MacCachren was fifth in season points and looking to move forward in the rankings.
During last year’s stop at Glen Helen Raceway for the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS), ROCKSTAR Energy Drink’s Rob MacCachren won both rounds of short course racing and set the fast lap for the weekend in his ROCKSTAR Energy / BFGoodrich Tires / MasterCraft Safety truck.  Coming into the first of two weekends at Glen Helen this season, MacCachren has already established himself as a force to be reckoned with as he has qualified first for every Pro2 Unlimited race this year.  Not only has “Rockstar Rob” put down impressive qualification times, he also claimed the victory during the last two rounds of racing at Speedworld Off Road Park, as highlighted on Youtube.  Will history repeat itself with another clean sweep for Rob Mac?

Kyle LeDuc flying through the air on his way to the podium
Speedworld Off Road Park in Surprise, Arizona is a notoriously rugged track; particularly the stutter bumps in the infield that result in only one tire on the ground at any given time.  While that made for exciting short course racing in Rounds 3 and 4 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) last weekend, when you are feeding 900 horsepower to all four Toyo Open Country M/T tires, like Team LeDuc’s three Pro4 Unlimited trucks, something has to give.  “Every time we break something we learn from that,” explained the always humble Curt LeDuc.  “We would just rather do our learning in practice that when we are racing.” Read More→
Rob MacCachren atop the podium celebrating victory

Surprise, Arizona was the location of Rounds 3 and 4 of Lucas Oil Off Road Racing (LOORRS) this weekend, but no one was surprised when ROCKSTAR Energy’s Rob MacCachren overwhelmed the competition.  MacCachren has posted the fastest qualifying time for every Pro 2 Unlimited short course race this season, but was unable to convert that success into a win in the first two rounds of racing.  That all changed when the defending Pro 2 champion piloted his ROCKSTAR Energy / BFGoodrich Tires / MasterCraft Safety truck to victory at Speedworld Off Road Park this weekend. Rob MacCachren has long held a reputation for being a talented driver, the kind of “hired gun” you add to the team to guarantee victory.  Yet despite over 175 event wins and 20 championships, his “hired gun” status also meant that he had never won a SCORE Trophy Truck race as the Driver of Record.  All that changed when MacCachren and co-driver, Cisco Bio, bested a field of 220 worthy competitors at the 2011 MasterCraft Safety Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 in the No. 20 SCORE Trophy Truck sponsored by Rockstar Energy Drink and MasterCraft Safety. “We have knocked on the door and come so close so many times; it is great to finally take home the victory for everyone who has worked so hard to make this program possible.  I didn’t just want this win for myself and the sponsors, I wanted it for the team.” Read More→

The Rockstar Energy Drink / Makita Tools short course racing team of Curt, Kyle, and Todd LeDuc came to Firebird International Raceway for the season finale of Lucas Oil Off Road Racing (LOORS) short course racing with a score to settle.  By their own admission, Rounds 13 and 14 of the short course series in Las Vegas did not go as well as they had hoped.  Lesser teams might let this affect them mentally, but the Rockstar Energy Drink / Makita Tools team drew upon their years of experience and came to Phoenix with renewed purpose. By all accounts, the MasterCraft Racing / Rockstar Energy Drink team was going to be a force to be reckoned with at the 2010 Tecate SCORE Baja 500.  With three SCORE Trophy Trucks starting in the top ten and incredibly strong finishes at the MasterCraft Safety Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250, expectations were justifiably high.  Unfortunately, things did not go as planned.  “That is why we race,” explained a sage Robbie Pierce, CEO of MasterCraft Safety.  “If we already knew who was going to  take home the victory, it wouldn’t be very exciting. The  unforgiving and challenging Baja peninsula always has a way of keeping things interesting, and that is one of the biggest appeals of desert racing.”

With a career filled with 167 event victories and 19 series championships piloting everything from limited class buggies and stock Ford pickups to Trophy Trucks and the Pro 2 Unlimited trucks, Rob MacCachren is able to pick and choose exactly who he works with.  In a tough economy where every racer is fighting for sponsorship dollars, it is an enviable position to say the least.  So who exactly does the off-road racing legend choose to endorse?  “The choice to align myself with MasterCraft Safety and Rockstar Energy was an easy one,” explains the multiple Baja 1000 and Borg Warner Cup champion.  “These companies share my commitment to winning, regardless of whether the venue is desert or short course racing.”    Read More→
