High Country Trailride
Clayton, Oklahoma
May 21-25, 1998

Clayton, Oklahoma is fast becoming one of the greatest 4x4 attractions in the Southwest. Located in the Kiamichi Mountains of Southeastern Oklahoma, Clayton offers a great variety of trails for all 4-wheelers, from rookie to extreme. Twice a year, the Fort Worth Dallas-Four Wheel Drive Club (FWD-FWD) plays host to 4-wheelers from all over the country. In Fall, it's the SWFWDA Quarterly Meeting run and in May, it's the High Country Trailride.

This Memorial Day, FWD-FWD welcomed over 225 4-wheelers to town for the weekend. Every motel room in the town was booked. The Southwest was extremely dry throughout April and May so the trails were incredibly dusty for most of the weekend. Several times I found myself with a shop rag over face and it was so thick with dusty fog that it was nearly impossible to see the truck in front of you!

The following is a bit of a photo album of shots I took and shots that were given to me by Tom Chapman, who was one of the trail-leaders on the run.
