LAS VEGAS, NV FEBRUARY 19, 2013: Trophy Truck racer T.J. Flores sized up the rock racing competition at the 2013 Griffin King of the Hammers and qualified for the 3rd starting position. When the right rear spindle broke out of the axle housing 11 miles into the main race they limped it back to main pit and decided to not fix it. “It was pretty incredible qualifying 3rd out of the best rock guys out there,” said TJ Flores, owner of Champion Race Works in Las Vegas, NV. “It was extremely disappointing when we only made it 11 miles in the main race. After we limped back to the main pit, I pulled off my helmet, took off my race suit and went to helping fix cars that were coming through the main pit. Got to be a team player.” (more…)

Dirt Riot Inaugural Southeast Race at The Great American Park
Racing Saturday February 23rd Starting at 9am in Auburn, AL
PLACERVILLE, CA FEBRUARY 20, 2013: The first ever Southeast Dirt Riot Series event will take place this weekend kicking off the 2013 race season. The Great American Park in Auburn Alabama will host a 4 mile long course that consists of some minor rock obstacles, some high speed sections, a lot of gullies and washes in a mostly sand base. “We are excited to be in Auburn, it’s a new course for us and the park owner is very accommodating and a real pleasure to work with,” said Rich Klein, President and founder of W.E. Rock Events. “Last year was our first complete year of Dirt Riot and I can’t tell you how excited I am to get the 2013 season underway. Ultra4 Race Teams Join Forces for Land Use Fundraiser
February 5, 2013, Johnson Valley, CA – The iconic King of the Hammers race in Johnson Valley, CA took on new meaning and added opportunity for education and fundraising this year as racers work to keep the area open to public recreation. The Marine Corps has been trying to annex the land for their use since 2007 under the auspice of training space and increased national security. Off-roaders including the race teams involved in King of the Hammers are fighting this move and working tirelessly to keep the 146,000 acres there open to public use. On February 5th DSquared Racing 4441, Big Ugly Racing 4435 and Race Prep Racing 4474 banded together during this year’s race week with a unique and fun idea – let’s sell cups and throw a party and give the money to the cause.
