  • JT Taylor Finishes NORRA Mexican 1000 in Ultra4 Car Winning the Evolution 4×4 Class

    Mexican 1000COLORADO SPRINGS, CO    MAY 29, 2012  –  JT Taylor completed another first in off-road racing.  He took the Torchmate / Tube Shark Ultra4 car south of the border and finished the four day 2012 General Tire NORRA Mexican 1000 Race.  “This is the funest race on the planet, and I’ve been around the planet,” joked JT Taylor.  “On a more serious note, it is an honor to be able to be welcomed by the entire NORRA staff and all the legendary drivers into their group after racing this week.” (more…)

  • Poison Spyder Larry McRae Wins Modified Class at Cinco de Baja

    Poison SpyderBANNING, CA    MAY 9, 2012  –  Larry McRae drove the Poison Spyder Modified Ultra4 #4581 to a class win at the Ultra4 Cinco de Baja race last weekend in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  With this Modified Class Western Series win and the 2012 Modified Class King of the Hammers win, the Poison Spyder Racing team is leading the Pro Series Modified Class and the Western Series Modified Class points race.  “The only thing that we had to do was put fuel in the car,” said driver Larry McRae.  “The crew prepped the car meticulously and have slowly worked the bugs out of the car making the 250 miles consecutively with no issues to speak of.” (more…)

  • JT Taylor Races NORRA Mexican 1000 in Ultra4 Car

    ultra4COLORADO SPRINGS, CO    APRIL 22, 2012  –  JT Taylor will be taking the Torchmate / Tube Shark Ultra4 car south of the border to compete in the four day 2012 General Tire NORRA Mexican 1000 Race.  This will be the first effort for an Ultra4 car to compete in this style of race.  “This will be my third time participating in this race and taking my car makes it even more special this year,” said JT Taylor. “The roots of Baja racing are part of this race but this effort will be the OG of desert racing.” (more…)

    RENO, NV    MARCH 28, 2012:  The Reno Expo presented by Miller Lite consisting of the Reno Off-Road & Motorsports Expo, Reno Outdoor Recreation Expo, Spring Home & Garden Show and Reno Pet Show and Pug Parade had a 20% growth in attendance at this years show.  “The economy has had quite a hit on the shows over the last few years and we are glad that combining the shows and adding all the features made it a huge success this year,” said event producer Al Lockett.  “We would like to thank Miller Lite, Summit Racing, our host hotel Grand Sierra Resort and all the vendors, too numerous to mention, for their dedication to the success of this years show.” (more…)

  • Shaffer-Motorsports Wins Class 4 SCORE San Felipe 250

    shafferOAKLAND, CA     MARCH 13, 2012   Shaffer-Motorsports car #401 won the San Felipe 250 in Class 4 last weekend in Baja, Mexico.  After a long week of prerunning and a 24 hour turn around to the US for a rebuilt transaxle, the team made the mad dash to the finish line with only 12 minutes separating them from second.  “It was quite a race.  From being down at the half way point, then making a great pass at RM194 for the lead, then watching Daniel put some time on them, we just focused on keeping the sprint up,” said Mike Shaffer, driver of record and owner of Shaffer’s Offroad.
