He takes Super Lite championship on Geolandar A/T-S® tires
FULLERTON, CA. – (Dec.12, 2011) – Yokohama Tire Corporation-sponsored off-road racer Chad George wrapped up a stellar season by clinching the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Super Lite title at Firebird International Raceway in Chandler, Arizona on December 10.
George piloted the Funco Motorsports #42 Kawasaki/Yokohama Super Lite – outfitted with off-the-shelf Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S+® tires – to a fourth place finish at Firebird to win the 2011 season championship. During the season, he won five races and reached the podium nine out of 15 times. (more…)
Rob MacCachren came to Firebird International Raceway for the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) season finale looking to add a sixth win in the 15 round series. He qualified third on Friday, putting him on the second row for Saturday’s last points race of the season. Rob Mac was out front in the ROCKSTAR Energy Drink / BFGoodrich Tires / MasterCraft Safety truck and set the fast lap for the race. He was well on his way to yet another victory when Brian Deegan dove under MacCachren in Turn 3 late in the race and put Rob on his roof. Deegan was black flagged for his actions and moved to the back of the pack, but the damage had been done and Rob limped around the track to finish mid-pack. Rob Mac’s five victories in Pro2 Unlimited are more than any other competitor, but incidents like Saturday’s resulted in some uneven finishes this season that caused MacCachren to finish second in points.
Fort Mill, SC – December 7, 2011. “Ballistic” BJ Baldwin entered the final race of the 2011 Best In The Desert (BITD) Series with one goal, to win the Trick Truck championship. And he did just that. Following a strenuous Henderson 250 full of ups and downs, Baldwin edged out Steve Strobel for the championship. The Trick Truck championship marks his second in as many years.
At the end of another year of racing, Rob MacCachren has racked up five wins in fourteen rounds of Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS). Perhaps even more impressive is that LOORRS is only one of three series that MacCachren competes in. He was also victorious at three TRAXXAS The Off Road Championship (TORC) races and had two wins (in only five races) in SCORE desert racing. Still, perhaps the most important race of the year is yet to come. “This is the biggest pay day in short course,” MacCachren noted of the Lucas Oil Challenge Cup, “and I want my piece of it.” $30,000 is on the line as Rob pits the No. 1 ROCKSTAR Energy Drink / BFGoodrich Tires / MasterCraft Safety truck not only against his normal Pro2 Unlimited competition, but the Pro4 Unlimited 4WD trucks are on the same course as well. MacCachren is no stranger to cup races, having won three Borg Warner Cups during his prestigious short course career.
