July 7th, 2015, GLEN HELEN RACEWAY: This weekend more than 100 ULTRA4 cars are returning to Glen Helen Raceway for the 5th Annual 4 Wheel Parts Glen Helen Grand Prix. The weather is expected to be in the mid 80s during the day and these cars won’t return to Southern California again until next year’s King of The Hammers.

This will be the second race of the 2015 ULTRA4 Trail-gear Western Regional Series. Many of the cars expected to compete also raced in the 2015 Nitto King of The Hammers presented by 4 Wheel Parts. The top 10 non-qualified drivers will earn themselves a spot in the 2016 King of The Hammers.  ULTRA4 drivers are also competing for a $10,000 purse.

Top drivers are expected to be in attendance including former Kings of The Hammers; Loren Healy, Shannon Campbell and Jason Scherer. Top Nitto Series drivers such as Derek West, Wayland Campbell and the 2014 European ULTRA4 Champion Levi Shirley will also be in attendance.  Drivers are not only racing for podium positions but also points towards the Nitto National Championship.

The format for the Southern California race combines Glen Helen’s short course track, motocross track and enduro tracks for a grueling grand prix style format.  The race is timed and the driver with the most laps in a given timeframe will be declared the winner. Spectators will have amazing views of the course as they watch drivers compete head to head with as many as 40+ cars on the track at once.

On Friday, ULTRA4 drivers will qualify in the late afternoon. Qualfiying will determine starting position for the prelims on Saturday morning. The Main races start after noon on Saturday with the 4400 Main event taking place at 4:45! Wrist bands are $20 for the weekend. Dry Camping for spectators is free with the purchase of a wrist band.  Saturday will be an action packed day of racing with UTV, Legends, Stock and Modified  4 wheel drive vehicles also racing. Many of these vehicles also competed at the King of the Hammers in a race known as the Every Man Challenge Race which is a modified version of the main event. These vehicles are no strangers to high speed.

Four Corners 4×4 Returns to Endurance Racing in Agate, CO

Jason Kaminsky and Rick Jenkins returned to the dirt track this past Saturday for a Dirt Riot Endurance Racing event held at Colorado Off Road Extreme near Agate, Colorado.

Among 39 competitors in all classes, Kaminsky piloted the #4678, with Jenkins navigating, along an eleven-mile course of tight curves and high speed straights laid out across rolling pasture lands.  Thirty-three miles in, only two minutes separated the top three 4600 class competitors.  Eventually, the pace took its toll on the vehicle’s steering.  The failure resulted in a roll-over on a slower section of the course.  Both Kaminsky and Jenkins were uninjured and exited the car as the recovery team arrived on the scene.  The car was quickly up-righted and moved from the racecourse.  The team finished in fifth place in the 4600 class. Four Corners 4×4 Wins in Rangely, CO

This past weekend, Four Corners 4×4 participated in the Western Regional Series WEROCK event held in Rangely, Colorado.  Jason Kaminsky piloted the #4678 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited to a First Place finish in the Mod Stock class with the help of spotter, Rick Jenkins.  This year, the team added competitive rock crawling to their racing schedule and this is their second win.

“We run the Sportsman’s “C” courses in our class due to our tire size and other vehicle restrictions imposed by our class,” commented Kaminsky.  “It’s fun getting out there and wheeling with other rigs running much larger tires and more sophisticated technology than what is allowed in our class.  I think we put on a good show and we were happy that we managed to get through the eight courses with no mechanical breakage or rollovers, not to mention the podium finish.”

    unnamed (93)

On the way home, the team took some time to stop by one of their primary sponsors,Mountain Off Road Enterprises.  M.O.R.E. specializes in aftermarket components specifically for Jeep vehicles.

“It was really cool to see where M.O.R.E.’s great parts are born,” said Rick Jenkins.  “We got a tour of both fabrication shops and the machine shop, as well as meeting a few new people who we don’t get to see at the shows and events.  The new CNC laser and the system for handling materials has got to be a real time-saver in the shop.”

    unnamed (95)

Now, with a quick turn-around, the team is busy preparing for the Dirt Riot Mountain Series #2 event to be held this weekend in Agate, Colorado.
