  • 2012 FOX off-road desert championships push and test limits of man and machine

    Athletes who took victories in limited open-wheeled cars and big V8-powered trucks say winning races has become more about intense full-speed, all-out racing.

    EL CAJON, Calif.  While no one would ever call off-road desert racing easy, its evolution has seen the races become more challenging and strenuous on both the drivers and the equipment. The long and diverse list of 2012 championship-winning athletes show what it takes to win in some of the most demanding racing styles in the world.

    Running everything from 68-horsepower 1/2-1600 cars to 800-horsepower trick trucks, each class of off-road race vehicle has its own unique demands. This year’s desert champions relied on their suspension systems, among other things, to outperform the competition. (more…)

  • Race Prep Racing #4474 to Take the First Green Flag at King of the Hammers

    Race Prep RacingSimi Valley, CA – Race Prep Racing’s Unlimited Ultra4 car #4474 will be the first pro class car to take the green flag during the famous King of the Hammers week held in Johnson Valley, CA February 3-9.  Richie Carter, the three-time driver of the team’s Falken sponsored car will be the first to tackle the qualifier course on Tuesday morning when racing begins.  The course remains a heavily guarded secret, but this premier starting position offers the team a clean race course, before the other 150+ racers have had a chance to dig it up and alter its difficulty.  This could prove to be a huge advantage for this seasoned racer.   • King Shocks Continues Support as Official Shock of King of the Hammers

  • General Tire Celebrates BITD Championships

    12bitd_ss300_teamgt_web_043Fort Mill, SC – December 17, 2012.  As the 2012 Best In The Desert (BITD) season came to a close at Henderson, Nevada, General Tire celebrated three class championships with members of Team GT.  For the second straight year, Jim Riley topped the points in the 6100 Class with his Azunia Tequila Ford.  Riley battled the rugged deserts of the southwest to post three wins in 2012, including a win at the coveted General Tire Mint 400.  Through it all, it was the “team” mentality that helped Riley to the class championship.

  • REDLYNER Racing Brings ‘Mall Crawling’ to the Desert in the 2013 Smittybilt Every Man Challenge

    CHARLOTTE, NC – December 12, 2012 – REDLYNER Racing (#4550) announces its participation in the 2013 Griffin King of the Hammers Every Man Challenge on February 7, 2013, in Johnson Valley, CA.  Ultra-4 racer, Jay Callaway, will be piloting his daily driven, street legal, 2000 Jeep Wrangler.

    “We are out to prove that a well built, all-show, mall crawler can be competitive in the ultimate desert race,” said Jay Callaway, REDLYNER Racing. “This jeep has been built to pick up groceries on the way home from daycare on Friday, shine at the car show on Saturday and race through the Hammers on Sunday.”
