  • 2012 King of the Motos Rider List Announced

    Promoters call the event a “motorcycle survival race.”

    January 26, 2012 (Lake Arrowhead, CA) – Hammerking Productions has announced the competitor list for the greatly anticipated King of the Motos slated to take place February 9th.  The event is an extreme enduro combining an updated course of approximately sixty-five miles of high-speed desert racing and ten plus miles of brutal rocks.  Co-promoters Dave Cole and Jimmy Lewis designed the race to be a fair playing field for all racers as no outside assistance is allowed.   • Darren Skilton Pushed to the Finish Line at Dakar Rally

    Fort Mill, SC – January 24, 2012. The historic Dakar Rally is not for the faint of heart and veteran driver Darren Skilton, along with navigator Skyler Gambrell, pushed the limits in what some are calling the most difficult course since the race moved to South America in 2009.  The General Tire-sponsored team endured more than 5,590 miles of silt beds, mile high dunes, treacherous mountains, inclement weather and mental exhaustion on their way to a second-place finish.  Just one of 72 teams to finish the race that 171 teams started. This marks the second year running that Skilton finished the grueling pan-American adventure.     TJ Flores is ready to bring it to the rocksTJ Flores has a reputation for doing more with less in the desert, regularly pushing his Class 1 car to victories in Best In The Desert and SNORE races ahead of teams with more horsepower and funding.  He is accustomed to being the underdog, so Flores didn’t shy away from driving in the crossover sensation that is the Griffin King of the Hammers.  “I am always looking for a new challenge,” Flores shared.  “I went out to Johnson Valley recently and ran last year’s course…  I never knew that you could get such an adrenaline rush while driving so slow!”  King of the Hammers combines desert racing and rockcrawling in one epic race.   • Shaffer-Motorsports Finishes 2nd at SCORE Season Openers

    shafferOAKLAND, CA     JANUARY 19, 2012   Shaffer-Motorsports team car #401 finished second on both Saturday and Sunday at the SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge.  The team debuted the new black, red and white look for the 2012 season including the addition of title sponsor Transfer Case Express while still being supported by Torchmate CNC Cutting Systems.  “We had fun even though we had to pull a motor out on Saturday after running with no clutch during the whole race,” said Mike Shaffer, driver of record.  “The wheel to wheel action that was also nose to tail made for a very exciting race to drive, and then it was even cooler that we got to watch all the other classes when we weren’t racing.”            (more…)

The partnership of Lincoln electric welders and the Torchmate CNC cutting system presents a opportunity to explore the equipment’s full potential by offering attendees of the event a chance to participate in building a hands on interactive art project tailored to The King of the Hammers event. Demonstrations of the Torchmate machines will take place the entire week of the event with Torchmate CNC machines and technicians available to assist race teams who need specialized parts replicated.
