  • AAM Announces New Axle Components for 2014 GM Trucks and SUVs

AAM Announces New Axle Components for 2014 GM Trucks and SUVs

Detroit – August 18, 2015 – American Axle & Manufacturing (AAM), a leading manufacturer of axle components, driveshaft components and repair kits for OE vehicles, has announced the availability of new rear axle components for several 2014 GM trucks and SUVs.

“AAM made some major changes to the rear axles for the 2014 GM Silverado and Sierra trucks, along with the Suburban and Tahoe SUVs,” said Greg Marsh, AAM engineering manager. “As a result, there is a new 9.5” and a new 9.75” ring and pinion gear set combination and new differential cases for each.”

AAM’s new 9.5” ring and pinion gear kits are available in three different ratios, 3.08 ratio (AAM part #95K2308gearkit), 3.42 ratio (AAM part #95K2342gearkit), and 4.10 ratio (AAM part #95K2410gearkit).

For the 9.75” rear axles, AAM’s new ring and pinion gear kits are available in three different ratios. They include the 3.23 ratio (AAM part#976K2323gearkit), the 3.42 ratio (AAM part#976K2342gearkit), and the 3.73 ratio (AAM part#976K2373gearkit).

Due to the pinion gears having metric threads, AAM includes the pinion nut, collapsible spacer, and pinion seal packed with the gear sets. New ring gear bolts must be purchased separately (AAM part #40064367). Marsh points out the previous versions of the GM 9.5” products will not fit the 2014 models. The 8.6” rear axle in the 2014 SUVs does carry-over all the parts in previous models.

AAM’s new differential cases for the 2014 GM trucks and SUVs are available in two sizes and will work for both the 9.5” and 9.75” gear sets. AAM part #40090727 is a differential case with internal gears for 3.23 and lower ratio gear sets, and AAM part #40090728 is a differential case with internal gears for 3.42 and higher gear ratio sets.

In addition, AAM is making available axle shafts for the 2014 Sierra and Silverado (AAM part #40103091) and the 2014 Suburban and Tahoe (AAM part#40103092)., New pinion flanges, seals, cover pans and bearing kits will also be offered soon from AAM for these 2014 GM vehicles.

Marsh also notes changes to the 2014 powertrain application information so technicians can identify the axle they are working on. The 8.6” axle is used with the 1500 series 4.3L V6 pickup (carry-over), the 9.5” axle is used with the 1500 series 5.3L V8 pickup and SUV, and the 9.76” axle is used with the 1500 series 6.2L V8 pickup and SUV. The 9.5” and 9.76” axles share the same 12 bolt cover plan. The 9.5” and 9.76” axle size is cast into the passenger side top portion of the carrier web.

AAM parts are the same OEM production parts many shops have come to demand when installing replacement parts. AAM parts fit right, install right and perform right the first time. • Samurai Silicone Radiator Hose Kit

    Samurai Silicone Radiator Hose Kit

The Samurai Silicone Radiator Hose Kit will provide your engine with a one-of-a-kind advantage in performance and style. These kits combine high-grade silicone rubber and heat-resistant polyester fiber to provide exceptionally efficient heat reduction and increased pressure tolerance, giving you peace of mind and years of satisfaction.

Samurai Silicone Radiator Hoses are a direct OEM fit for the Samurai 1.3L motor. The 3-ply polyester reinforced construction has an operating temperature range from -20 degrees F to 350 degrees F. Our silicone hoses handle greater temperatures than standard rubber radiator hoses and are resistant to ozone exposure, oil, and other engine fluids. They are also much more resistant to electrochemical degradation, which means that silicone radiator hoses last about five times longer than a standard rubber radiator hose.

Samurai Silicone Radiator Hoses are high-gloss black and are shipped with stainless steel hose clamps.  This is one upgrade that you simply cannot afford to miss.

These hoses meet or exceed SAE J20 standards.

  • ICON Vehicle Dynamics 2015-UP Ford F-150 2WD 0-3″ Suspension Systems

ICON Vehicle Dynamics 2015-UP Ford F-150 2WD 0-3″ Suspension Systems

The “more powerful, capable & advanced” 2015 Ford F-150 is a great pickup truck with a long heritage of being one of the toughest vehicles on the road. With several changes making their way into production for 2015 including an all new aluminum body, ICON was anxious to get this truck into R&D to see what improvements could be made to the stock suspension.

    unnamed 2

ICON engineers performed an in-depth analysis of the new truck in stock form with a primary goal of identifying any limiting factors and weak points in OE components. Once this process was complete focus shifted to CAD development, in-house dyno testing, and real world ride tuning in an effort to address these issues while increasing wheel travel and overall shock damping ability. With the redesigned aluminum body featured on the 2015 F-150, ICON engineers spent a significant amount of time developing a new shock valving that addressed the “slimmer” truck’s ride characteristics. This research and development process yielded a collection of products including coilovers, rear shocks, and tubular steel upper control arms that have been organized into several staged systems that offer unique levels of performance for the new Ford.

    unnamed 3

ICON’s 2015 F-150 suspension systems increase wheel travel by 12.5% over stock while drastically improving on and off-road ride quality. A remarkable level of performance is established with the Stage 1 system, which includes vehicle-specific tuned 2.5 Series coilover shocks and ICON 2.0 Aluminum Series monotube rear shocks that are both 100% rebuildable and revalvable. As the stages increase, the ability of the vehicle to handle exceptionally well in harsh off-road conditions is also increased with the addition of remote reservoir coilovers, 2.5 Series rear shocks, uniball upper control arms, and CDCV (Compression Damping Control Valve) technology. An adjustable coilover design offers up to 3” of lift height, allowing for the fitment of larger, more aggressive wheel and tire combinations. A 100% bolt-on design makes for a simplified and straightforward install while allowing for the ability for the vehicle to be returned to stock form if need be.

    unnamed 4

ICON products are all proudly made in the USA at our Southern California-based facility by a dedicated team of off-road enthusiasts. With our reputation for quality, performance, and service, it’s clear that ICON Vehicle Dynamics is the top choice for performance suspension systems and shock absorbers for 2015 Ford F-150 2WD pickups.
