  • THR / Bonanza Plumbing / Kawasaki / Monster Energy / Precision Concepts Team Overcomes Challenges For Strong Finish At The Baja 1000

    There are no slow riders on the THR Motorsports teamTHR Motorsports / Bonanza Plumbing team rider and past Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 winner Robby Bell started ninth off the line on the Precision Concepts-prepped Kawasaki KX450F and was physically third on course after the first 90 miles of technical terrain.  Bell then handed the bike off to reigning Vegas to Reno champion Shane Esposito, who moved the THR Motorsports / Bonanza Plumbing team into second place by Race Mile 190 when one of the main competitors ran out of fuel.  No one is impervious to mistakes in Baja, but the THR Motorsports / Bonanza Plumbing team knew that their biggest competition wasn’t on two wheels, it was Baja itself.  (more…)
  • Race Prep Racing Caps a Strong Rookie Season with a Solid Finish at Glen Helen

    November 2011, California:  Privateer Ultra4 team Race Prep Racing completed their rookie season with a solid finish at Glen Helen Motorsports Park last month.  Richie Carter, driver, made 24 laps in the unpredictable endurance race that proved to be too difficult to finish for more than half the field.  This Race Prep Racing result puts the team in 11th place overall for the season, of the 182 teams racing Ultra4.

  • Terrible Herbst Motor Sports Overcomes All Obstacles For Top Ten Baja 1000 Finish

    Larry Roesler was off to a fast start before engine failure ended No. 19's day“When you are racing in Baja anything can happen,” Troy Herbst explained.  “That is part of the appeal, but it sure makes it tough to plan ahead.”  Troy’s No. 49 Terrible Herbst Motor Sports Ford was at the starting line for the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 when word came across the radio that a semi truck was blocking the course and the marquee Trophy Truck field would restart at Race Mile 5.  The surprises started early and never stopped for the next sixteen hours of non-stop racing from Ensenada to San Felipe and back again.  (more…)
  • General Tire, Wahoo’s and Azunia Tequila Deliver a World of Possibilities to Rancho El Milagro

    • The fifth annual Baja Children’s Support Run raised $3,000 to buy supplies in addition to building a multi-media center for more than 40 orphans.

    Fort Mill, S.C. – Nov. 23, 2011. General Tire, Wahoo’s Tacos and Azunia Tequila, delivered an early Thanksgiving to some deserving orphans at the Rancho El Milagro (www.ranchomilagro.org) orphanage in Ensenada, Mexico last Wednesday prior to the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. The group was joined by several teams participating in this year’s Baja 1000 at the fifth annual Baja Children’s Support Run. The volunteers collected $3,000 to buy supplies, in addition to building a multi-media center for the more than 34 children and staff of the orphanage. The focus of this year’s event was to install a multi-media center, including new computers and desks, so the kids could discover the world of possibilities that lie ahead for them. (more…)

    Baja California, Mexico – (November 23, 2011) While Tony Stewart gave a class on how to win an oval-track race on NASCAR’s big stage, Team GT’s Jim Riley gave a class on how to be a winner in life on off-road racing’s biggest stage, the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. Following more than 36 grueling hours in the Mexican desert, the No. 1802 of Kane Fraser and the General Tire sponsored No. 7 of Riley crossed the Baja 1000 finish line at 2:00 a.m. PST on Sunday, November 20.  (more…)

  • Rob MacCachren Wins The Battle Against Baja But Loses The War For The Season Title

    Rob MacCachren looking for the next passWhile the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 was only 692 miles long this year, none of those miles came easy for any team.  “In Baja you don’t necessarily race against each other,” explained five time Baja 1000 winner Rob MacCachren, “you race against Baja itself.”  After conquering San Felipe to win both SCORE races there earlier this season, the notorious whoops finally got their revenge when the No. 20 ROCKSTAR Energy Drink / MasterCraft Safety / BFGoodrich Tires Trophy Truck experienced suspension component failure that additionally took out the power steering at Race Mile 458.  At that time Rob Mac was fourth physically on course and chasing his first SCORE season championship as driver of record after assisting so many other teams in the past as a hired gun.
