Auburn
Hills, Mich - The
Chrysler Group will offer current and potential Jeep® and
Chrysler owners a unique driving experience in 11 cities throughout
the country from May 17 through October 28. The Jeep 101 and the
Chrysler Proving Grounds event is a four-day opportunity for consumers
to test-drive some of the automaker's new and most popular vehicles
on specially designed on- and off-road driving courses that demonstrate
the vehicles' ruggedness, capability and refinement.
Consumers
attending Jeep 101 will be among the first in the country to test-drive
the all-new 2002 Jeep Liberty, which will be available at dealerships
this summer. The Chrysler Proving Grounds portion of the event
will feature a chance to compare the Chrysler Sebring sedan (named
a AAA top car) and the Town and Country minivan (named most versatile
by American Woman Road & Travel) with competitors' vehicles.
It also will offer consumers the chance to get behind the wheel
of the 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser, Motor Trend's "Car of the
Year." The Jeep 101 and Chrysler Proving Grounds driving
events will take place simultaneously but on separate courses.
With the
Liberty, Jeep 101 offers an exclusive opportunity to test drive
the vehicle both on and off-road. Liberty, the Jeep brand's newest
model, delivers legendary Jeep off-highway capability with superior
on-road ride and handling. Liberty is a distinctive Jeep design,
providing efficient space utilization, enhanced versatility and
thoughtful innovation.
Also
featured in Jeep 101 are Grand Cherokee, 4-Wheel & Off Road
magazine's "4 x 4 of the year," and Wrangler, one of
the "Best Buys" for 2001 by Four Wheeler magazine.
The Chrysler
Proving Grounds, named after the company's test track in Chelsea,
Michigan, educates attendees on the rich heritage of the Chrysler
brand, and offers test-drives in Chrysler products including the
PT Cruiser, Sebring sedan, 300M and the Town and Country minivan.
The Chrysler Proving course of slalom curves, tar strips, and
other obstacles highlight the exceptional performance and agile
handling of Chrysler vehicles.
The Jeep 101
and the Chrysler Proving Grounds showcases Chrysler Group's products
by providing consumers a first-hand driving experience in a safe,
educational and entertaining environment without sales pressure.
Through a number of interactive displays, attendees can learn
more about the product attributes. Along with the driving experience,
the event offers additional lifestyle activities like a golf driving
range and a rock climbing wall.
"Jeep
101 and the Chrysler Proving Grounds events are an important part
of marketing our vehicles," said Lou Bitonti, Senior Manager
of Jeep Global Direct Marketing. "There are no sales people
on site but we do provide plenty of information about our models.
We believe that when consumers have a chance to see, touch and
drive our award-winning vehicles they are sold on owning a Jeep
or Chrysler vehicle."
