Hills, Mich., Jun 7, 2002 - Chrysler Group is recalling
some 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 pickups to reinforce an axle bracket,
and also 1997-1998 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups with diesel
engines to replace a fitting in the engine compartment.

Group is recalling 46,000 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 pickups to address
a potentially weak weld on a rear axle bracket. The recall affects
only four-wheel drive models built prior to November, 2001. No
complaints have been received on this long-term durability issue
that may affect less than four percent of vehicles. Dealers will
install a reinforcement bracket.
- Approximately
111,000 1997-1998 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups with diesel
engines will be recalled to replace a fitting in the engine compartment
that could corrode from road salt used during winter months in
the Midwest. Dealers will install new fittings in the engine compartment
with improved corrosion resistance.
