NEW
YORK, NY - The New York International Auto
Show saw the debut of the all-new Land Rover G4 Edition
Discovery. Designed to showcase the capability of Discovery,
Land Rover will build a limited number of Discoverys modeled
after the vehicles currently in use at the Land Rover G4
Challenge event.
Off-road
capability is at the core of the Land Rover G4 Edition Discovery.
The combination of a 4.6 liter, 217hp V8 engine, five-speed
automatic transmission, two-speed transfer case with locking
center differential, four-wheel electronic traction control
(ETC), and Self-Leveling Suspension (SLS) give the Discovery
G4 Edition it's greatest off-road capability ever.
“With
this vehicle, we will capture the excitement of the event
in a limited edition,” said Greg Gilliland, Discovery
model manager. "The G4 Edition Discovery is a vehicle
designed specifically with the off-road enthusiast in mind
and its capabilities are being showcased throughout the
G4 Challenge."
The
Land Rover G4 Edition Discovery is painted in Tangiers Orange,
just like the real competition vehicles and features an
all-new, larger diameter roof rail design called the "Aero"
Roof Rail system. Full exterior protection includes the
Discovery front A-frame brush bar and rear lamp guards.
On the inside the G4 Edition Discovery features an all-new
"Foundry" trim finish that includes seats upholstered
in “Black Mogul” technical fabric - a material
unique to the Land Rover G4 Edition. An in-dash CD player,
black leather-wrapped steering wheel, as well as driver
and passenger electric seats, complete the G4 interior.
Only
200 of the Discovery G4 Edition will be built with pricing
expected to be under $39,000. Availability will be in the
third quarter of 2003.
