The rattle-free carriers are an innovative combination of bumper, receiver hitch, spare tire carrier and Hi-Lift© jack mount. Designed by Off-Road Technology’s team of metal fabrication engineers in conjunction with Jeep enthusiasts, the Swing-Out Tire Carrier is built to endure severe off-road abuse. Its heavy-duty construction begins with Off-Road Technology’s standard Jeep rear bumper featuring: 3” x 4” x 3/16" thick structural rectangular steel tubing for maximum strength and durability to resist damage better than formed sheet metal Integrated ¾ “ thick Clevis Mounts go completely through the bumper and are welded both front and back so they will never break off 2" receiver hitch integrated into the center of the bumper tube, and welded both front and back - ensuring maximum ground clearance Holds up to a 38” tall tire with out interfering with the receiver hitch Fully welded end caps that are ground, sanded and powder-coated for durability and protection from the elements. For optimum durability, a 1" diameter, stainless steel pivot shaft extends through the bumper and is welded solid on both top and bottom, and the actual swing-arm is manufactured from 2" x 2" x 1/8" thick, reinforced square structural steel tubing. For smooth, maintenance-free operation, the swing-arm utilizes 2” sealed bearings on top and bottom. A special ½” diameter ball-lock pin locks the swing-arm open smoothly at 90° and 130° - preventing the spare tire from moving while the swing-arm is in an open position. Off-Road Technology’s Adjustable 2,000 lbs. T-Handle Positive Lock Compression™ latching system inhibits up/down and back/forth movement to prevent unintended release and ensure a quiet, rattle-free ride. The Swing-Out Tire Carrier comes standard with an integrated Hi-Lift jack mount and Padlock tabs for both the Hi-Lift jack and swing-arm that provide extra security. The carrier positions the tire so that it will not obstruct the operation of the tail gate, hatch or tail lights.
