Rancho First to Market with HUMMER H3 Suspension

Rancho HUMMER H3Long Beach, CA - The 2006 Hummer H3 - dubbed "Little Brother" by some who appreciate the off-road capabilities of its larger siblings - now packs the attitude and altitude necessary for aggressive competition thanks to the latest first-to-market performance suspension system from Rancho.

Celebrating its 50th year of hard-core off-road excitement, Rancho offers a broad array of premium, no-compromises performance suspensions, shock absorbers, struts and other technologies for drivers who expect more from their light trucks, Jeeps and SUVs. The brand's heritage of innovative engineering coupled with ultra-premium materials and construction has made its products the preferred choice of truck enthusiasts who want to achieve maximum versatility and enjoyment from their vehicles.

As the first and only H3 system currently on the market, Rancho's latest suspension breakthrough enables vehicle owners to significantly increase ground clearance with 35-inch tires while enjoying the brand's trademark superior on- and off-road ride and handling. Available in mid-September through Rancho dealers everywhere, the new H3 suspension feature exclusive Rancho/Realift™ torsion bar technology, which harvests the full value of larger tires/wheels by eliminating the need for clearance-reducing bar relocation. Rancho engineers also developed a low-profile two-piece cross member design that enables the installer to precisely relocate the differential - ensuring optimum suspension geometry and zero bump steer - without removing it from the vehicle.

The H3 system is ideally suited to the world-class performance of Rancho Pro Series remote reservoir high-performance shock absorbers and RS9000X fully adjustable premium shocks. Both shock models are engineered for use with Rancho's exclusive RCX dual-action remote control system, which enables on-the-fly damping adjustment from inside the cabin.

"We set out to design a suspension that would far exceed the expectations of hard-core off-road enthusiasts, and we've hit that target," said Bill Johnson, director of engineering for Rancho. "There are absolutely no compromises in this system - vehicle owners can upgrade to 35s while taking their H3's to new levels of performance."

Rancho engineers consistently achieve first-to-market introduction of cutting-edge suspension technologies thanks to extensive original equipment product development partnerships -- through global parent Tenneco Automotive - on the latest truck and SUV platforms. Tenneco Automotive is the OE supplier of ride control, exhaust and elastomer components for the H3.

The Rancho H3 system levels the rear to the new front-axle ride height with premium low-friction competition leaf-spring packs. Other key system features are Rancho's widely-respected CN C-machined, cast ductile iron steering knuckle for superior strength and reliability; front differential drop brackets to optimize pinion angle; "disappearing" aft braces for added strength (without reducing clearance); and Hummer-inspired differential skid plate armor. The system maintains the factory rack-and-pinion gear location and requires no drivetrain or exhaust modifications.
