Okay, so I was tossing around the idea of selling the scout to build a buggy. After further contemplating I am now going to build the scout and hope to build a buggy in the future. Where we live, a heater and cab make wheeling great.

Set up now is 345/727/atlas. Leaf sprug front and rear dana 44s yukon grizzly locker rear (that I think I just blew up) lsd front. Chromoly shafts in both front and rear. 35bfg weld on beadlocks, cage to frame, sliders, bumpers.

Stripped an 03 gmc 2500 for the 6.0l and 4l80e.
Will need to figure out what I need to mate the atlas to the 4l80e. Probably a new adapter and update some internals for the output shaft of the 4l80e. If you know anyone that's in need of a 261 tcase, I have one laying around.

Was able to pickup a matching pair of axles from an 89 cummins. Dana 60 front, dana 70 rear. $800. Goal is to 4link the front (which I've never done) and leaf the rear with the 63s that came off the gmc. To keep my budget happy for now. I was also going to follow my friend's advice on welding the rear and locking the front. However, I was just reading a different thread that said selectable or nothing for the rear. Open to learning here, keep in mind I want this bearly road worthy for the hour drives to local wheeling. Also on the hunt for 35 outers. Debating drive slugs or hubs... want to go selectable in front. Oh, I have a line on a used eaton E locker for the 60 at $800. I think it's steep, thoughts? I was going to shoot for arb.

A bit late to the party but definitely want a selectably or open for the rear for best control. It would be better to spool the front and use locking hub for street use.

Man, it's been a while since I posted anything.... I had a heart attack that really light a fire under my butt. Let's see, 345 is out 6.0l is in. tcase mounted, dana 44s out and sold, dana 60 and 70 turned out to be a 61 and 71. Sold those, baught a dana 60 and 14 bolt. Then found a smoking deal on detroit for the 14 bolt. ($150) and a yukon grizzly for the front ($400). Installed those with the 4.10s currently. (Want 513s later).... I've been working on leaf spring hangers front and rear. Eventually going 4 link front, but the budget is keeping that to a phase 2. Chevy 52s up front 63s out back. I did get some half worn out 38.5 tsl sx and H1 wheels. Last Friday I was cutting the body to get the atlas up as high as I can for a flat belly. I am less than a half inch from flat belly.

First shot at the shackle angle in the front was a flop. With weight we are at 38 degrees. I'm going to cut those shackle hangers off and redo those. Try to get to 30. We we will see. Next on the list is to finish off the trans mount and paint it. Then land the rear spring hangers. And mount the axles. Once that is done I can design a new gas tank.... the skid plate is heavy on my mind. How heavy is to heavy and how light is to light? I want to go from slider to slider with a continuous sheet. I'm real open to opinions here. Should get a dimple die? Should I uhmw that bad boy? Should I just go frame to frame? Best ways to brace? Bast ways to mount? Whatcha got?

Well, atlas is in, 63 leafs are in 14bolt is in, front leaf hangers got reworked for a better shackle angle. Front axle is back together with new nongreaseable u joints. 35 spline outers, and ECGS drive flanges, found a 10k smitty winch with synthetic line for a smoking deal. Got some custom rock rings welded into my h1 wheels. Wire harness is here. Headers are here. Bout to make something happen.

On all my LS engine swaps, i run a simple 90 degree silicone coupler off the intake and use a piece of 4" exhaust tube with a filter on the end.

Here is my setup in my tundra.
