BLUERIBBON COALITION LAND USE UPDATE!
COLORADO - FS Releases Travel Management Plan for White River National Forest
Dear BRC Action Alert Subscriber,
The White River National Forest, located in west central Colorado, has just released their Travel Management Plan Record of Decision (ROD) and Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS).
The long awaited decision outlines the specific details for all transportation on the White River National Forest, including snowmobile use. The decision includes which roads and trails will be open for motorized and non-motorized use and which areas are open to winter motorized travel and which areas are closed.
The agency has selected Alternative G Modified as the selected alternative. Specifics of the decision can be found at http://www.fs.fed.us/nepa/fs-usda-pop.html?project=1103.
We imagine this decision will see numerous administrative appeals. Keep in mind that an administrative appeal is not a lawsuit, rather, it is simply the last stage of the public planning process. Appeals must be filed during the 45-day appeal period follow the decision. Appeals must be received by June 18, 2011.
BRC will be reviewing the decision, and we should have an analysis in the next few weeks. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact BRC.
Thanks in advance for your support,
Ric Foster
