Subject: Cooperative Agreement Signed
The long anticipated Memorandum of Understanding Between The Wisconsin Off-Highway Vehicle Association And The USDA, Forest Service Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest was signed, sealed and delivered to WOHVA earlier this month.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) documents cooperation between the two parties. Additionally, the purpose of the MOU is to continue to develop and expand upon the framework of cooperation between WOHVA and the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) in the development of mutually beneficial programs, projects, and activities pertaining to the management of the Pipeline 4x4 Recreation Trail.
WOHVA & the USFS have been working together for several years to provide quality riding experiences for WOHVA Members and other parties searching for safe, resource friendly areas to drive 4x4 vehicles and off-highway motorcycles in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest (CNNF). It is mutually beneficial for both WOHVA and the USFS to work cooperatively to further develop the conservation ethic of motorized recreation enthusiasts. The MOU recognizes WOHVA's efforts to instill greater understanding of the needs for responsible motorized recreation through environmental education awareness. Further, the
MOU points out that both the USFS and WOHVA share the common responsibility and interest of developing and disseminating relevant OHV information to the public regarding conservation, recreation and natural resource activities as they relate to motorized recreation on the CNNF.
The MOU is effective as of June 24th, 2011 and through June 1st, 2016. After the fifth year, the MOU will expire unless extended by an executed modification approved by both the USFS & WOHVA. Additional details on the MOU can be obtained from the WOHVA Executive Committee. The document will be available for review at the WOHVA Board of Directors Meeting on August 10th and at WOHVA's 8th Annual Wisconsin OHV Enthusiasts Workshops on April 12th, 13th & 14th, 2012.

Grant Agreement Signed
The Wisconsin Off-Highway Vehicle Association (WOHVA) and the State of Wisconsin, Department of Natural Resources (DNR) formally signed an Outdoor Recreation Aids Grant Agreement earlier this week (August 22nd, 2011).
The grant allows WOHVA to utilize federal Recreational Trails Act grant funding to rehabilitate the access to The Pipeline 4X4 Trail (Forest Service Road #55552) at Forest Service Road #904385. Both roads are located in the eastern most region of the Laona/Lakewood Ranger District of the Chequamegon/Nicolet National Forest (CNNF). This grant project will include repairing the current access, making it capable of handling heavy equipment, thus allowing said equipment an access point to areas of The Pipeline located between weight restricting bridges.
This grant (RTA-466-10) has a Total Project Cost of $19,750. The period covered by the grant begins August 17th, 2011 running through June 30th, 2013. WOHVA's first Pipeline Grant Trail Workday is scheduled for September 24th. Additional information on this (and all WOHVA's Pipeline Grant Trail Workdays) is available in the "Events & Trail Rides" section of WOHVA's General Public Forums.
This is the first in a series of grants which WOHVA's hopes to use in facilitating the rehabilitation of The Pipeline 4X4 Trail. When the series is completed, the rehabilitation should serve to assure not only the long-term sustainability of The Pipeline 4X4 Trail but also the continued recreational access by motorized recreationists to the trail.
WOHVA would like to thank the DNR for their assistance in securing this grant, as well as staffers at CNNF, WOHVA sponsors (who have donated finances, equipment & materials) and our legion of WOHVA volunteers!
