Project: Camp Creek Wash Restoration Project – Watering Young Trees and Seed
Location
: Arizona

Description: In an ongoing effort to support the recovery of the fire-damaged Camp Creek Watershed, three volunteers and staff from the Tonto National Forest provided critical summer irrigation to sustain restoration efforts. They watered approximately three acres of newly planted seeds and over 150 young trees, which were planted in late January 2025.

This supplemental watering significantly contributed to the low mortality rate of the new vegetation despite the intense summer heat and dry conditions. The team continues to monitor the area to assess plant health and track progress in ecological recovery, particularly in response to prior damage from unauthorized off-highway vehicle (OHV) use and wildfire.

These efforts play a vital role in supporting the work of the understaffed U.S. Forest Service team and advancing the rehabilitation of this sensitive watershed.
