Project: onX Arapeen Trail Revival Signage Project
Location: Utah

Description: On September 12, 2026, Tread Lightly! partnered with onX and the U.S. Forest Service Ferron Ranger District to improve trail signage along the Skyline Drive section of the Arapeen Trail System in central Utah’s Manti-La Sal National Forest.

The project focused on replacing and improving signage displaying trail numbers and directional information, helping recreationists more easily navigate the trail system and stay on designated routes.

Throughout the project, the team improved signage along approximately 45 miles of trail. Three 4×4 powder-coated metal posts were installed, and U.S. Forest Service stickers were applied to provide clear, durable information for trail users.

In addition to the on-the-ground improvements, the project provided an opportunity for Tread Lightly!, onX and U.S. Forest Service staff to further develop collaborative relationships and discuss opportunities for future stewardship projects in the area.

Projects like the Arapeen Trail Revival demonstrate how partnerships between the outdoor recreation community and land managers can make a meaningful difference on public lands. Clear, effective signage supports responsible recreation, helps protect natural resources and provides visitors with the information they need to confidently explore designated routes.
