  • Polaris RZR XP 900s take on the Rubicon UTV Challenge

I have been riding here since the early 1990s.  First in a Jeep CJ7 that was never complete.  I was always looking for something new to make the trail easier or more comfortable. Then in 1998 I bought a Jeep TJ.  The new Jeep with a lift kit and 33 inch tires was more capable than my 1977 CJ7 that had thousands invested to make it more trail worthy. But I still added a long list of goodies to the new TJ. Something about the trail has always captured my intrigue and made me want to build vehicles capable of taking on the trail without lots of damage.

It is perhaps the best known off-roading trail in the world. The Rubicon Trail located in Northern California is world famous among 4×4 fans. The trail was established in the late 1800′s as a stage coach route between Georgetown and Lake Tahoe mainly to serve two resort hotels at Wentworth Springs and Rubicon Springs. After the hotels went out of business and the road deteriorated it was picked as home for the first Jeepers Jamboree in 1953. Since then it has gained international recognition and is considered the “Granddaddy” of all four-wheel trails – a 10 on most scales. The Rubicon Trail is actually an unmaintained county right of way – the Rubicon/McKinney Road. (more…)

  • ARB INTENSITY LED LIGHTS

In 2009 ARB engineers started a development program to produce an ARB driving light with a completely new design incorporating the latest LED technologies.

Unlike light bars that were growing in popularity, ARB required a light that was compatible with current bull bar designs and traditional driving light mounting points. They also needed to be a legal fitment which, in many states, light bars are not.

Many ARB customers prefer a combination of a spot and spread driving light due to the various driving conditions encountered in general off-roading. Most LED light bars on the market are considered great lights for slower off road driving where the ability to see great distances is not so critical. For ARB’s new light to compete with the best the market can offer in Halogen and HID lighting, it needed to give not only the broad flood beam associated with light bars but also a spot beam with the ability to penetrate longer distances. • Rock Meets Rally at 2013 King of the Hammers

Denver, Colorado (Oct 25, 2012) – Two distinct driving styles come together to take on the 2013 King of the Hammers!  American Rock Rods has joined forces with Doug Siddens from RZRForums.net to take on one of the most brutal races in history, the 2013 King of Hammers UTV race, which will be held February 7, 2013 in Johnson Valley, California.

The King of Hammers race (KOH) is referred to around the world as the toughest one day race in all of motorsports.  Combining high speed desert racing with very slow, very technical, and borderline insane rockcrawling, the King of Hammers is tough on both man and machine.  Since its inception, the race has grown exponentially, and it is now an entire week of events.  The 2013 King of Hammers UTV race is looking to be the best one yet, with 5 classes of competition and rules sanctioned by the International Side X Side Association.  The entire event is attended by over 30,000 spectators each year, and another 113,000 plus people watched it unfold live on the internet last year. The KOH race week is a spectacle in and of itself, with nothing else like it in existence. (more…)
