  • Marc Burnett Overcomes Injury to Finish Second at SCORE Tecate Baja 1000 in Class 6

    • Burnett doesn’t let broken collar bone get in the way of his Baja 1000 race.
    • Burnett’s second-place finish marks third podium for Team GT.

    Baja California, Mexico – (November 20, 2011) In one of the most strenuous Baja 1000 races to date, Team GT driver Marc Burnett had to overcome a broken collar bone as he attacked the 692-mile course. Burnett got off to a great start but close to mile-marker 222 had to stop for a three hour repair. The unscheduled stop was indeed a set-back but it looked as if Burnett would be able to fight through and add to his Baja 1000 wins. Unfortunately his hopes of a win were dashed, but Burnett powered through 692 miles with un-matched grit and determination to capture second in Class 6 and second-place in the overall SCORE Series championship.   • Justin Davis Wins Baja 1000 and SCORE Championship in Class 1 on General Tires

    Davis becomes the youngest Baja 1000 winner and SCORE championship winner at just 18 years of age.

    Baja California, Mexico – (November 19, 2011) In a grueling battle to the end, General Tire’s Team GT member Justin Davis won the Class 1 division of the 44th annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. At just 18 years of age Davis becomes the youngest driver in history to win the Baja 1000. Without hesitations Davis completed the entire 692.82-mile course by himself chalking up win number three in Class 1 of his 2011 SCORE season. The Baja win also garnered him the title of 2011 SCORE Class 1 champion.

    “This is so exciting for General Tire,” said Travis Roffler, marketing director, General Tire. “Justin was an iron man out there and we couldn’t be more proud of him. To be the youngest Baja 1000 winner and the youngest SCORE championship winner is just amazing.” (more…)

  • FAST-Aid Well Represented at 2011 Baja 1000

  • Chris Ridgway Rides 10x in 2011 Baja 1000

    APPLE VALLEY, CA  NOVEMBER 15, 2011 – Amputee Chris Ridgway will ride the Baja 1000 on Honda 10x This Friday November 18, 2011.  After mechanical issues at the 2011 Extremity Games, Ridgway will take the leg of the Baja 1000 that could be the most treacherous – the 200 miles at night.  “I am antsy, I haven’t done anything lately and this was an awesome opportunity to race with the Prohens Brothers that have raced the legendary Dakar Rally,” said Chris Ridgway.   • General Tire Kicks Off Baja Race With First Annual Off-Road Street Fiesta at Papas & Beer

    • Event open to the general public and will include driver autograph sessions, race truck exhibits, Takon Machine, and other activities for the entire family.

As a kickoff to the 2011 Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 race, General Tire (GT), Method Race Wheels and Monster Energy invite fans to join all the race teams for an evening of fun Thursday, November 17 at Papas & Beer (located at Blvd. Lopez Mateos and Calle Ruiz 110 in Ensenada, Mexico) for the first annual Off-Road Street Fiesta. The event gets underway at 3:00 p.m. PST and will include driver autograph sessions from 5:30-6:30 p.m., a large display of race trucks, performance by Takon Machine, flame throwing exhibitions and other activities for the whole family to enjoy.     MasterCraft Racing is employing some “new math” in their campaign to win a SCORE International desert racing season championship.  20 + 30 = 1 at the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 as No. 30 driver Robbie Pierce will park his Jimco truck and forfeit his fifth place starting position to share driving duties in the No. 20 ROCKSTAR Energy Drink / MasterCraft Safety / BFGoodrich Tires Trophy Truck with eight time SCORE season champion Rob MacCachren.   Rob Mac is currently second in the standings to former protégé Bryce Menzies, who clings to a slim six point lead in season points.  Should MacCachren and Pierce win the Baja 1000 they will clinch the coveted SCORE Trophy Truck season title as well.
