    FULLERTON, CA. – (Nov. 23, 2010) – The SCORE Baja 1000 is off-road racing’s toughest test. Yokohama Tire-sponsored racers took the challenge, with three-time SCORE champion Heidi Steele leading the pack with a third-place finish in Class 6 for unlimited, production mini trucks.

    The 43rd edition of the iconic desert race, which wound down Mexico’s Baja Peninsula from Ensenada to La Paz, took place November 17-20. (more…)

  • General Tire tears up the desert at the 43rd annual Tecate Baja 1000

    ENSENADA, Baja, Mexico – (Nov. 23, 2010) – Team General Tire and the General Tire Grabber competition tire took on the desert once more at the 43rd annual Tecate Baja 1000, which stretches from Ensenada to La Paz, Mexico,  and results in the longest version of the SCORE Baja 1000 known as the Peninsula Run.

    Team General Tire was primed to unleash its fury on the desert’s most fearsome course for its third consecutive season.  Finishing at the top, was the unstoppable team of Kent Kroeker, who placed second in Class 8 and “Ballistic” BJ Baldwin who took home fourth place in Trophy Truck. (more…)

  • Joe Bacal and Lexus Persevere for Maiden Victory in Baja 1000

    Never-Say-Die Effort Caps First Championship Season for Driver, Team, and Luxury Automaker

    LA PAZ, Mexico, November 21, 2010 – After suffering the longest night of his young off-road racing career, Joe Bacal and the Cancer Treatment Centers of America-sponsored Lexus LX 570 stormed past the finish line at 7:54 a.m. Saturday morning in a triumphant conclusion to the 43rd Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000.

    After weeks of careful preparation and the 2010 SCORE Stock Full championship already behind them, cancer survivor Bacal and first-leg co-driver Chris Cocores departed Ensenada at 12:57 p.m. on Thursday with a comprehensive race plan and a quick LX 570, backed by a second driving team and a race-tested  support crew.  Their plan was to turn the rig over to Bob Ditner and Paul Williamsen early Friday morning at mile 546 but things did not quite go as planned.     Unique Program Combines Corporate Focus to Aid Needy Mexican Children’s Orphanage at SCORE Baja 1000 Off-Road Race

    ORANGE COUNTY, CA – For the fourth year in a row, a team of charity-minded businesses and off-road racers have joined forces to create the “Wahoo’s Baja Support Run IV” at next week’s Tecate SCORE Baja 1000.

    The unique effort donates much-needed food, supplies and support to the very deserving children’s orphanage. The orphanage is located just outside of Ensenada, Baja, Mexico, the seaside town located just a short drive south of downtown San Diego that has also served as the starting point for the legendary Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 and Baja 500 off-road races since 1967. The effort is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, November 16th beginning in downtown Ensenada followed by a special police escort and parade through the streets up to the orphanage itself. (more…)
