    Fort Mill, SC – December 7, 2011. “Ballistic” BJ Baldwin entered the final race of the 2011 Best In The Desert (BITD) Series with one goal, to win the Trick Truck championship. And he did just that. Following a strenuous Henderson 250 full of ups and downs, Baldwin edged out Steve Strobel for the championship. The Trick Truck championship marks his second in as many years.   • Adam Householder Takes The Trick Truck Victory In Henderson

    Adam Householder on his way to his second BITD win of the seasonAdam Householder just keeps getting faster and faster.  After starting 28th off the line at Best In The Desert’s (BITD) Silver State 300 earlier this season, Householder shocked the competition and brought home his first Trick Truck win (BITD’s equivalent of SCORE Trophy Trucks).  Since that time Householder has consistently put the No. 24 Householder Motorsports Ford near the top of the standings in both BITD and SCORE International; the only driver to earn Top Five season standings in the most elite class of each of these series. In the last race of the 2011 Best In The Desert Series, the TransWest Ford Henderson 250, General Tire’s “Ballistic” BJ Baldwin will lead the way for Team GT in the Trick Truck class. Similar to the showdown at the OK Corral, this year’s championship point’s battle will leave a mark in the American off-road history books as Baldwin sits within striking distance of first place.   • John Swift and Steve Olliges Finish Third Overall At Blue Water Desert Challenge

    Competition was fierce at last weekend’s Best In The Desert (BITD) Blue Water Desert Challenge, with 17 Class 1400 Trick Trucks battling for season points and the overall win at the two-day event.   Steve Olliges and co-driver Jason Bateman were 13th off the line on Saturday in the No. 28 BFGoodrich / MasterCraft Safety Trick Truck.  Despite heavy dust resulting from triple digit temperatures and no wind, Olliges was able to pass enough competitors to move up to fourth place on in Saturday’s standings.  “I backed off when the dash lit up like a Christmas tree, but our Dougan Racing Engine never let us down after running in the red hour after hour,” Olliges shared.
  • Freitas Offroad Motorsports Comes From The Back To Finish First In Class 1 At Vegas To Reno

    In only his second season racing in Best In The Desert’s unlimited ranks, Garrick Freitas has made his presence known by winning the TSCO Vegas to Reno race.  Winning in desert racing’s premier Class 1500 and coming in 2nd overall out of 298 vehicles in the longest off-road race in America was anything but easy though.  Freitas was still harboring demons from last year’s Vegas to Reno event.  In 2010 Garrick was running at the front of the pack when he cart wheeled his Jimco Champion less than 100 miles from the finish line.  (more…)
  • John Swift and Steve Olliges Take The Bronze At Vegas To Reno

    John Swift and Steve Olliges knew that competition would be tough for the 2011 Best In The Desert Vegas to Reno race when over 250 drivers tossed their hat in the ring.  The entry list for the longest desert race in America included 27 competitors in the marquee Trick Truck class, all vying with the No. 28 BFGoodrich / MasterCraft Safety truck of Swift and Olliges.  The event started with tech and contingency, where the biggest buzz was not about their unlimited Trick Truck, but Olliges’ beautiful ’79 Ford F150 that will be campaigned in Best In The Desert’s Class 8 starting at the Bluewater Desert Challenge in October.   “The truck really resonates with people, young and old, who appreciate desert racing’s rich heritage,” Olliges noted.
