  • JT Taylor Races NORRA Mexican 1000 in Ultra4 Car

    ultra4COLORADO SPRINGS, CO    APRIL 22, 2012  –  JT Taylor will be taking the Torchmate / Tube Shark Ultra4 car south of the border to compete in the four day 2012 General Tire NORRA Mexican 1000 Race.  This will be the first effort for an Ultra4 car to compete in this style of race.  “This will be my third time participating in this race and taking my car makes it even more special this year,” said JT Taylor. “The roots of Baja racing are part of this race but this effort will be the OG of desert racing.” (more…)

  • JT Taylor Starts 6th Consecutive King of the Hammers

    king of the hammersCOLORADO SPRINGS, CO    FEBRUARY 15, 2012  –  JT Taylor set forth on his 6th King of the Hammers adventure last week in the same car that he has driven for 5 of those years.  After a high speed tumble during pre-running, the team thrashed to get the car back on all four in time for qualifying.  JT started Fridays race in 68th and finished his race 18.5 miles from the finish line with a blown transfer case.  “When we were 40 miles from the finish line I thought I would get to finish this race, but I got shot in the foot again,” said JT Taylor after recovering the rig. “But the time spent on the lakebed with friends, who I only get to see a couple times a year, makes it worth the trip nonetheless.” (more…)

    Over the next week off-road enthusiasts from around the globe will converge on the tiny desert hamlet of Johnson Valley California. The sparsely populated community swells to over 20,000 when the annual pilgrimage of off roaders descends on Means dry lakebed for the King of the Hammers event. More than just a race, the weeklong event offers a multitude of entertainment options for those who like to test the merit of their machines, and driving ability over some of the harshest terrain known to man.  The event epicenter springs from the dust to form a virtual city known as Hammertown.   • Torchmate Racing JT Taylor Wins Ultra4 Torchmate Stampede

    Torchmate Teammates JT Taylor Wins and Jesse Haines Finishes 5th 

    RENO, NV    SEPTEMBER 13, 2011  JT Taylor, Team Manager for Torchmate Racing, took the win at the Ultra4 Torchmate Stampede in Reno, NV on Saturday September 10th. The 130 mile Northern Nevada race boasted as the hardest Ultra4 race yet by promoter Dave Cole, even tougher than the King of the Hammers, makes the win even stronger. “This is a huge deal for Torchmate and this win is a long time coming for me.  We knew we couldn’t let off and had to run a fast and consistent pace because there were 45 quality racers chasing me down… so, this is a big frickin deal,” said JT Taylor at the awards ceremony Saturday night as the crowd of racers cheered.   • Taylor Dominates at 2011 Ultra4 Torchmate Reno Stampede

    September 11, 2011 –Reno, NV:   Despite rumors of the hardest Ultra4 course in history, all fifty starting positions for the 2011 Ultra4 Torchmate Reno Stampede were filled months before the green flag dropped.  Now in its second year, the Ultra4 Stampede covered 128 miles of loose hill climbs, technical rock canyons, and wide open deserts at the Reno Tahoe Motorplex about 20 minutes outside of downtown Reno, NV.  The racing was intense early on as Shannon Campbell, Jason Scherer, and JT Taylor battled for the lead in their V8 powered, 4-wheel drive Ultra4 cars.  Mechanical issues hampered Campbell and Scherer, leaving JT Taylor to take the win in his innovative Torchmate-built twin traction beam race car.  (more…)
