Racing the Night Away in Lake Elsinore, as Season Titles are on the Line

The Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series is nearing the finish line for 2016 as Rounds 13 & 14 returns to Lake Elsinore for night racing on September 23rd and 24th. Featuring races on Friday and Saturday nights, LOORS brings its pulse pounding action to the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park. Make sure you catch the 850-plus horsepower, fire breathing, Pro4s and Pro2s as they light up Lake Elsinore night.

As the 2016 comes to a close with only three races left to determine championships, here’s how the various classes are looking:

    unnamed-2

    Pro4
It’s really coming down to the wire for the Pro4 championship! After a rough start to the season, Kyle Leduc has finished on the podium the last seven races, putting him only six points behind Carl Renezeder with three races to go. The championship is up for grabs as Rob Mac and Doug Fortin are both within striking distance and all have a chance at the overall championship. The margin for error is microscopic and the pressure is mounting as it’s do-or-die from here on out in the hunt for the Pro4 championship.

    unnamed-3

    Pro2
The Pro2 class has been dominated by Rob MacCachren, having won the last four rounds, he stands firmly in first place with a 77 point lead over second place, RJ Anderson. Rob Mac really only needs to show up to the start line at the next few races to have the Pro2 championship sewn up. Meanwhile the race for second and third place is heating up as only one point separates RJ Anderson and Jeremy McGrath. It’ll be interesting to see their strategies going into the last few races of the year.

    unnamed-4

    Pro Lite
Jerett Brooks has pulled ahead in the Pro Lite championship points hunt after at strong showing up in Reno. Winning five races this year, he’s now 27 points ahead of Brandon Arthur, who’s had some rough luck the last couple of races. Rounding out the field, Brock Heger and Ryan Beat are deadlocked in third place.

    unnamed-5

    Pro Buggy
The most exciting championship hunt is in the Pro Buggy class, with four drivers only separated by 19 points from first to fourth; Garrett George, Mike Valentine, Darren Hardesty, and Kevin McCullough are all tightly bunched and jockeying for the championship. Just a little consistency from any of the drivers and they have a chance of walking away with the 2016 series title.

Catch all of the action starting at 7PM on Friday September 23rd and Saturday the 24th. Get tickets in advance HERE.

LOORRS Heads West to Lake Elsinore, California

Lucas Oil Off Road Racing heads west to Lake Elsinore, California for Rounds 3 and 4 on April 23-24, after a successful season opener at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, Arizona.

    unnamed 5

With the popularity of short course racing growing each season, we are seeing new sponsors and manufacturers getting involved wanting to be included in the wraps on race vehicles. From the thousands of fans on site to the live Internet stream on Lucas Oil TV to the produced tv shows shown a few weeks later, there is a lot of exposure to be had. This influx of sponsors has allowed more racers to get involved and even created multi-vehicle teams.

Most racers are happy to have moved past the first rounds and ready to move on to the next event, any gremlins or new truck blues will usually present themselves early in the season, so as the season moves forward, so will the confidence in the equipment.

    unnamed 4

    PRO 4

Nobody would have guessed that Kyle Leduc would have started off the season with two DNFs after his dominating 2015 season. Carl Renezeder and Rob MacCachren split the top spot for Rounds 1 and 2 with MacCachren taking the opener on Saturday. Eric Baron was able to grab a third place on Saturday with Greg Adler taking third on Sunday. The top qualifier was Leduc, so for him to redeem himself in Lake Elsinore.

    unnamed 3

    PRO 2

Bryce Menzies picked up where he left off last year with a win in the opening round but missed the podium in Round 2. MacCachren got a pair of second places in Arizona, and although those are great results for the start of the season, the veteran racer will be looking for the top step in the next rounds. Brian Deegan closed out the podium with a pair of thirds on the weekend even leading a bunch of laps, a great result for Deegan. As a side note, Menzies spent two weeks of March and April in Abu Dhabi racing a Rally Raid race for Red Bull Mini, maybe in preparation for a possible future Dakar Rally.

    unnamed 2

    PROLITE

Brandon Arthur landed in the top spot on the podium for both Rounds 1 and 2, showing he has not lost any speed in the off-season and that he’s the one to beat moving forward in 2016. Ryan Beat and Jerret Brooks split second places on the weekend and Brad Deberti showed consistency taking third place in both rounds.

    unnamed

    PRO BUGGY

Pro Buggy is going to be the class to watch this year. The class had two different winners, Kevin McCullough and Elliot Watson in the first two rounds with five different drivers on the podium. The only driver to be up on the box both rounds was Sterling Cling with a pair of third place finishes. Garret George and Darren Hardesty each grab second place finishes on the weekend. This class has fresh young drivers hungry for wins this season and to prove themselves worthy of moving up to the truck classes in the coming years.
