Rough Weekend Of Racing Can’t Keep ROCKSTAR Energy / Makita Tools Kyle LeDuc Off The Podium
Speedworld Off Road Park in Surprise, Arizona is a notoriously rugged track; particularly the stutter bumps in the infield that result in only one tire on the ground at any given time. While that made for exciting short course racing in Rounds 3 and 4 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) last weekend, when you are feeding 900 horsepower to all four Toyo Open Country M/T tires, like Team LeDuc’s three Pro4 Unlimited trucks, something has to give. “Every time we break something we learn from that,” explained the always humble Curt LeDuc. “We would just rather do our learning in practice that when we are racing.” (more…) -
A Clean Sweep For Rockstar Energy’s Rob MacCachren In LOORRS Racing At Speedworld
Surprise, Arizona was the location of Rounds 3 and 4 of Lucas Oil Off Road Racing (LOORRS) this weekend, but no one was surprised when ROCKSTAR Energy’s Rob MacCachren overwhelmed the competition. MacCachren has posted the fastest qualifying time for every Pro 2 Unlimited short course race this season, but was unable to convert that success into a win in the first two rounds of racing. That all changed when the defending Pro 2 champion piloted his ROCKSTAR Energy / BFGoodrich Tires / MasterCraft Safety truck to victory at Speedworld Off Road Park this weekend. (more…) -
Look For Jimmy Stephensen Atop The Podium At Speedworld This Weekend
As the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) shifts into high gear for Rounds 3 and 4 this weekend at Speedworld Off Road Park on April 16th and 17th, Pro Lite driver Jimmy Stephensen has his sights set firmly on the top of the podium. The Ironclad Energy + Hydration / Discount Tire Nissan driver has plenty of momentum behind him coming into Surprise, Arizona after two podium finishes in as many races this season. “The competition was fierce at the season opener in Firebird, and there are a lot of new trucks and drivers to contend with,” Stephensen confessed. “With Deegan, Brandt, Ampudia, Currie, Cameron Steele, and Kyle Leduc all running in Pro Lite this year I feel ecstatic to be on the podium both days.” (more…) -
Sacalas takes 1st place in Lucas Oil Short Course at Glen Helen
April 2, 2011 – Glen Helen, CA: Kevin Sacalas took 1st place last weekend at the Lucas Oil Regional Short Course race held at Glen Helen Raceway. Sacalas dominated the morning practice and qualifying heats before claiming the podium in the final race of the day. Throughout the morning runs there was a 3 way battle between 2010’s King of the Hammers, Loren Healy, HammerKing’s Dave Cole and Big Ugly’s, Kevin Sacalas. It all came down to the final race of the day. For the first few laps, Healy held the lead with Kevin a few car lengths back and Dave Cole in the mix. At about the 4th Lap, Sacalas gained on Healy and the two drove nose to tail for almost a full lap before Sacalas took the inside line on a turn as they crested a tabletop side by side and Kevin and Loren aired out their cars. As the cars came back to earth, Sacalas’ front passenger tire landed on Healy’s front driver tire. Sacalas was able to continue into the turn and Healy momentarily struggled to regain control of his car. Sacalas never looked back. He held his lead for the next 10 laps to take home the checkered flag. (more…) -
