COLORADO SPRINGS, CO FEBRUARY 15, 2012 – JT Taylor set forth on his 6th King of the Hammers adventure last week in the same car that he has driven for 5 of those years. After a high speed tumble during pre-running, the team thrashed to get the car back on all four in time for qualifying. JT started Fridays race in 68th and finished his race 18.5 miles from the finish line with a blown transfer case. “When we were 40 miles from the finish line I thought I would get to finish this race, but I got shot in the foot again,” said JT Taylor after recovering the rig. “But the time spent on the lakebed with friends, who I only get to see a couple times a year, makes it worth the trip nonetheless.” (more…)

Robby Gordon Partners with Torchmate Racing for 2012-2013 Season
Capitalizing on a 10-year relationship with Lincoln Electric, Robby Gordon Motorsports has embraced the new addition to the Lincoln family and welcomed Torchmate CNC Cutting Systems onto Planet Robby. Gordon, who has acquired the Torchmate Racing built TTB car for the upcoming Griffin King of the Hammers event, will begin testing the rebadged Speed Energy #77 car this week and he has tasked rock crawling champion and former Pirate4x4.com owner, Lance Clifford, to navigate. “Although I have not yet met Lance, he has come highly recommended and is a welcome addition to our team. We put a lot of value in having the right people to help us succeed,” said Gordon. Torchmate racing prepares for the 2012 King of the Hammers with a full schedule of activities

Over the next week off-road enthusiasts from around the globe will converge on the tiny desert hamlet of Johnson Valley California. The sparsely populated community swells to over 20,000 when the annual pilgrimage of off roaders descends on Means dry lakebed for the King of the Hammers event. More than just a race, the weeklong event offers a multitude of entertainment options for those who like to test the merit of their machines, and driving ability over some of the harshest terrain known to man. Shaffer-Motorsports Will Race Complete SCORE Series in 2012 Class 4 Car Opens Season in Laughlin
OAKLAND, CA JANUARY 11, 2012 Shaffer-Motorsports team car #401 will be competing in the entire SCORE International Racing Series in 2012. With the addition of title sponsor Transfer Case Express, the Shaffer-Motorsports black, red and white car will be focused on the SCORE Class 4 Championship. “When we were deciding on our season we agreed that we loved racing in Baja, so opted to focus all our efforts on the SCORE series in hopes of coming out with a championship,” said Mike Shaffer, driver of record and owner of Shaffer’s Offroad. “This will be our second season with this car and I feel we get more and more confident of its capabilities after each race and all our testing and tuning sessions.” (more…) -
Torchmate Racing Shaffer-Motorsports Finishes 2nd in 2011 Baja 1000
OAKLAND, CA NOVEMBER 29, 2011 Torchmate Racing Shaffer-Motorsports team car #401 finished second in class at the 2011 Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 after completing 705 miles with an official time of 24 hours and 40 minutes through the most grueling terrain in Baja. With only 10 minutes separating them from the leader, the third leg driver Daniel Aeberli said, “We gave it everything. It was a great race at the end and the Torchmate car really gave us what we needed to finish.” (more…)
