  • Chris Ridgway Misses Win by 34 Seconds at VORRA Desert Race

    He Prepares for 2010 X-Games as Reigning Gold Medalist

    APPLE VALLEY, CA – July 21, 2010:  Chris Ridgway participated in last weekends VORRA (Valley Off Road Racing Association) Fallon 250 desert race in the Trent Fab buggy and placed 2nd by a mere 34 seconds.  “It was a fast course, and we had no issues until the last lap when we got a flat.  When we got out to change it, we had lost the tool kit that had the lug wrench in it!  We jumped back in and had to run 20 miles on the Raceline Wheel to the next pit where one of our competitor’s pit crews changed it for us,” said Ridgway.  “While in the pits, we got passed for the lead and had to drive the last 10 miles at warp speed, but it wasn’t enough.” (more…)

  • VORRA Cuts Through Nevada Desert at Xtreme Outlaws 250 where Chuck Dempsey Takes $5,000 Purse

    RENO, NV   JUNE 22, 2010:  Despite all obstacles, VORRA produced an epic race over Father’s Day Weekend, June 17th – 20th, 2010. The Xtreme Outlaws 250 race started with the Grand Sierra Leap then paraded down Interstate 80 to the green flag where they went into the wild desert for four laps of brutal and fresh terrain.  Class winners Chuck Dempsey, Patrick Timmons, Gary Herrod, Mike Shaffer, Jay Schroeder, Greg Jones, Vince Viola, Kevin Yoder, Terry Shelton and Dennis Jean made their way through the Nevada desert to complete one of the toughest VORRA races yet.   • VORRA Sanctions the Xtreme Outlaws 250 Race on Father’s Day Weekend with $10,000 Purse

    RENO, NV   JUNE 16, 2010:   Set your eyes on the deserts surrounding Reno, NV for the next race in the VORRA series this coming Father’s Day Weekend, June 18th – 20th, 2010. The Xtreme Outlaws 250 will start at the Grand Sierra Resort (GSR), run through the streets of Reno and Virginia City, and then far into the wild desert.  Racers including John Harrah, Roger Norman, Chuck Dempsey, Sam Berri and Dave Cole are making final preparations for this weekends new Father’s Day tradition.   • VORRA Yerington 300 Desert Challenge Successful Meeting High Expectations and Large Spectator Turnout

  • VORRA Yerington 300 Will Parade Through Town

    RENO,NV    MAY 24, 2010:  Yerington, NV will have a parade down Main Street this Memorial Day Weekend: It will consist of the VORRA Yerington 300 race competitors on Saturday at 6pm.       The third race of the 2010 VORRA series, this weekend May 28-31, 2010 in Yerington, NV, consists of multiple events surrounding the 300 mile desert race.  “We are excited to work with the City of Yerington to put on this event.  They welcome us every year and their hospitality makes for a great weekend of racing,” said Wes Harbor VORRA series promoter.
