  • Yokohama Tire Corporation-Sponsored Off-Roaders Cameron and Heidi Steele Gearing up for ‘Vegas to Reno’ Race, August 16-18

    Racers will use Geolandar® tires to tackle ‘the longest off-road race in the U.S.’

    FULLERTON, CA. – (Aug. 14, 2012) – Yokohama Tire Corporation-sponsored Cameron and Heidi Steele – the husband and wife team known as “off-road racing’s power couple” – will be back in action at the Best in the Desert’s 534-mile “Vegas to Reno” race, August 16-18. Cameron and Heidi will tackle “the longest off-road race in the U.S.” on Geolandar® tires.

    Heidi, whose five off-road season championships include a 2008 Best in the Desert title, will be competing in her second race this year after becoming a mother in March. She placed second in June’s Baja 500 in a Ford Ranger equipped with off-the-shelf Geolandar M/T+® tires. She’ll be competing on the same tires in the 7200 Class at the Vegas to Reno contest. (more…)

  • New Yokohama Tire Corporation Video Highlights the Return of Off-Road Champion Heidi Steele to Racing after Becoming a Mother

    FULLERTON, CA. – (July 13, 2012) – The return of five-time off-road champion Heidi Steele to pro racing after giving birth to her first child is presented in a new video by Yokohama Tire Corporation (YTC). The nine-minute video, created by Air, Land + Sea Films, is on YTC’s YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/yokohamamotorsports.

  • Ready to Race: Yokohama Tire’s 2012 Motorsports Program Revs Up

    Tire maker teams up with a new partner in the ALMS GT Class and continues campaigns in ‘green racing’ with orange-oil infused tires in the GTC and GT3 Challenge series, plus off-road racing

Leading the strong line-up will be Yokohama’s campaign in the ALMS GT series featuring a new partnership with Alex Job Racing competing on a Lotus Evora. Yokohama will also once again continue to run in the GTC Class of the ALMS and in the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama with its eco racing slick – the ENV-R2 – as the series’ spec tire.   • Yokohama Tire Corporation-Sponsored Off-Roaders Kick-Off Season at SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge, Jan. 14-15

    Cameron Steele has two Trophy Trucks entered on specially designed 40-inch Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S® R tires

    FULLERTON, CA. – (Jan. 12, 2012) – Yokohama Tire Corporation-sponsored off-road racers, including Trophy Truck veteran Cameron Steele, begin the season at the 18th annual SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge in Laughlin, Nevada, January 14-15. Steele, along with his Desert Assassin team, will be competing on various Yokohama Geolandar® tires.

    Steele received the first qualifying spot for the two-day SCORE (Southern California Off Road Enthusiasts) event, which, for the first time, will be divided into two races. Steele has two Trophy Trucks entered, both on newly developed 40-inch Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S® R tires specially engineered for extreme off-road conditions. (more…)

  • Yokohama Tire-Sponsored Chad George Wins Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Title

    He takes Super Lite championship on Geolandar A/T-S® tires

    FULLERTON, CA. – (Dec.12, 2011) – Yokohama Tire Corporation-sponsored off-road racer Chad George wrapped up a stellar season by clinching the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Super Lite title at Firebird International Raceway in Chandler, Arizona on December 10.

    George piloted the Funco Motorsports #42 Kawasaki/Yokohama Super Lite – outfitted with off-the-shelf Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S+® tires – to a fourth place finish at Firebird to win the 2011 season championship. During the season, he won five races and reached the podium nine out of 15 times. (more…)
