  • Yokohama Tire Corporation-Sponsored Drivers Kick-Off Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Season with Three Podium Finishes

    FULLERTON, CA (March 23, 2011) – Yokohama Tire Corporation-sponsored drivers combined for three podium finishes at the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series opener at Firebird Raceway in Phoenix, Arizona, March 19-20.

    In the Pro Lite Unlimited class, Yokohama driver Jimmy Stephensen took his #33 Discount Tire/Ironclad Nissan, outfitted with  Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S® tires, to the podium with a third-place finish in round 1 on Saturday, March 19.   • Yokohama Tire Corporation’s 2011 Motorsports Program Gears Up

    Tire maker continues with teams in off-road and ALMS, plus “eco-racing’ in the GT3 Challenge and GTC series

    FULLERTON, CA (March 15, 2011) – From rugged desert terrains to legendary tracks such as Sebring International Raceway, Yokohama Tire Corporation’s motorsports program will be in full swing in 2011. Once again, Yokohama will be involved in off-road racing’s SCORE, SNORE and Lucas Oil series, as well as endurance racing in the competitive ALMS classes. Additionally, Yokohama’s breakthrough eco-racing campaign will continue in the GT3 and GTC series with its orange oil-infused ADVAN® ENV-R2™, the first – and only – environmentally-friendly tire used in a racing series.

  • Yokohama Tire Corporation-Sponsored Heidi Steele Wins SCORE San Felipe 250

    Former two-time champion Steele and co-driver Rene Brugger come from behind to take Class 6 title on off-the-shelf Geolandar M/T+® tires

    FULLERTON, CA. – (March 14, 2011) – Yokohama Tire Corporation-sponsored Heidi Steele captured her first race of the season, winning the Class 6 title at the 25th MasterCraft Safety Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 in Baja, California on March 12.

    Driving her customary Ford Ranger, Steele, the former Class 6 (unlimited, production mini trucks) and Class 7 (open, production mini trucks) champion, and her co-driver and Desert Assassins teammate Rene Brugger, finished the demanding course on off-the-shelf Yokohama Geolandar M/T+® tires in 5:50:40.  (more…)

  • Yokohama Off-Roaders Battle Bruising Baja 1000

    Heidi Steele gets podium finish on off-the-shelf Geolandar M/T+® tires; Ikuo Hanawa races solo for 34 hours

    FULLERTON, CA. – (Nov. 23, 2010) – The SCORE Baja 1000 is off-road racing’s toughest test. Yokohama Tire-sponsored racers took the challenge, with three-time SCORE champion Heidi Steele leading the pack with a third-place finish in Class 6 for unlimited, production mini trucks.

    The 43rd edition of the iconic desert race, which wound down Mexico’s Baja Peninsula from Ensenada to La Paz, took place November 17-20. (more…)

  • Yokohama Tire Corporation’s New ‘Tire Tips’ Educational Video Focuses on How to Choose a Truck/SUV Tire

    FULLERTON, CA (Aug. 25, 2010) – Consumers looking for guidance on how to choose the right tires for their trucks and SUVs can get answers from Yokohama Tire Corporation’s third installment of Tire Tips, a series of short educational videos created to help people learn more about tires, from proper maintenance to improving fuel efficiency.

    The “how to choose a truck/SUV tire” video is hosted by off-road racing champions Cameron and Heidi Steele. Cameron, who is also a TV commentator, was the host in the first two Yokohama Tire Tips videos: the importance of properly inflated tires and how to read the sidewall of a tire.  The latest video can be seen on Yokohama’s Website (www.yokohamatire.com) and YouTube.     FULLERTON, CA (July 2, 2010) – How to read the sidewall of a tire is the subject of Yokohama Tire Corporation’s second installment of Tire Tips, a series of short educational videos designed to help consumers learn more about tires.
